51 11 050 Removing and installing/replacing support for front bumper panel

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove front bumper panel. See 51 11 156 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (REPLACING) FRONT BUMPER PANEL .

F06/F12/F13 only:

Remove right headlight See 63 12 012 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (REPLACING) THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT (XENON) or 63 12 017 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (REPLACING) RIGHT HEADLIGHT (ADAPTIVE HEADLIGHT)

Version with active pedestrian protection

Remove pedestrian protection sensor

Pull off impact absorber (1) from support.

Installation note:

Connect bottom of impact absorber (1) to support, then press on at top.

IMPORTANT: Damage to retaining lugs (1) on impact absorber (2) is to be avoided!
For version with active pedestrian protection, impact absorber (2) is not to reused

Disconnect connector connections (1) from fanfare horn (2) on left and right.

Unclip wiring harness along marking (1).

If necessary, drill out blind rivet (2).

Version with ACC:

Unfasten plug connection (3) and disconnect.

Drill out blind rivets (4).

Release screw connection (1) on support (3).

Tightening torque 51 11 4AZ .

Installation note:

Renew self-locking screws/nuts.

Correctly install reinforcement plate (2) on left within the support.

Replacement

Reposition adapter plates (1) and plastic nuts.

Reposition holder for fanfare horn (2).

Modify holder (3).

Release screw connection (4) from reinforcement plate (5).

Tightening torque 51 11 4AZ .

Reposition reinforcement plate (5).

Installation note:

Replace self-locking screws.

Only apply screw connection (4) after installation of support on deformation element.
