41 35 081 Removing And Installing Front Side Panel On Left

IMPORTANT: Do not damage adjoining body components.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove seal mounting for engine compartment lid. See 51 76 035 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID SEAL LOCATOR .
Remove SIDE REPEATER
Remove trim panel for cover on side member. See 51 71 447 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING TRIM PANEL FOR COVER ON LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE MEMBER .
Remove wheel arch covers. See 51 71 038 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT WHEEL ARCH COVER (FRONT SECTION) or 51 71 039 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT WHEEL ARCH COVER (REAR SECTION) .
Partially loosen bumper panel on the side. See 51 11 156 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (REPLACING) FRONT BUMPER PANEL .

Raise engine compartment lid.

Loosen cowl panel cover (1) from the side wall (arrow).

Feed out sealing (2).

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque 41 35 1AZ .

Bend holder (2) approx. 15 mm to the rear.

Installation note:

After installation of the side wall, the holder must be bent back again.

IMPORTANT: When removing the side wall, the guide (1) on the headlight housing must not be damaged!

Installation note:

Pay attention to the correct installation position of the sidewall in the area of the guide (1).

Open door.

Release sealing (1) by about half.

Remove screws and nuts.

Tightening torque 41 35 1AZ .

Tightening torque 41 35 2AZ .

Feed side wall out in the area of the A-pillar, first outward, then toward the back.

Only vehicles with park assistant:

Repair work in area (1) is not permitted.

Replace side wall.

Replace wheel arch trim (1). See 51 13 061 REPLACING WHEEL ARCH TRIM ON FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE PANEL (JAPANESE NATIONAL-MARKET VERSION) .
