54 34... Wiring harness repair for angle-of-rotation sensor for fin

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove GASKET ON REAR RIGHT .
Support soft top compartment lid in SERVICE POSITION .

WARNING: Soft top becomes pressureless without a warning signal.
For all repair work, secure soft top with a suitable aid against collapsing.
Ensure that the support is centered and broad.
Ignition must remain switched off during the repair work.
If this is not observed, preliminary damage to the hydraulic valves or a switch-off into overload protection cannot be excluded. Follow the diagnosis instructions.

Cut open cable strap (1).

Disconnect plug connection (2) from angle-of-rotation sensor for fin.

Unclip connector from soft top frame (3).

Remove winding tape (1) on wiring harness to junction angle-of-rotation sensor for fin (2).

Push back braided hose (3) on wiring harness.

Cut wiring (1) of angle-of-rotation sensor for fin at dimension A= 25 mm.

Cut replacement wiring set for angle-of-rotation sensor for fin (BMW part number: 54 34 7 322 308) at dimension A = 26 mm.

Crimp and insulate replacement wiring set on wiring harness appropriately with BUTT CONNECTOR .

Installation note:

Observe color coding of the individual cables.

Comply with NOTES ON HANDLING WIRING HARNESSES .

Push braided hose (3) upward on wiring harness and secure at previous junction to angle-of-rotation sensor for fin (2) with winding tape (1).

Clip connector to soft top frame (3).

Establish plug connection (2) to angle-of-rotation sensor for fin.

Attach wiring harness to soft top frame with cable strap (1).

Remove support for soft top compartment lid.

Carry out FUNCTION CHECK .
