54 34 343 Removing and installing/replacing rear left or right gasket

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Open soft top until working area is accessible
Side windows opened completely

Unbutton control cable (1) from gasket.

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 54 34 13AZ .

Pull welt (3) out of soft top cover.

Remove gasket (2).

Installation note:

Pull off protective film and adhere gasket along the embossing edge to the fin underside.

Follow REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS for bonded gaskets!

Undo rivet connections (1).

Remove gasket with insert and completely remove rivet residue.

Installation note:

Apply locking pliers to top and secure gasket with insert to main pillar.

Rivet seal carrier in the specified order to soft top linkage.

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage to side window or to gasket (window guide). Pin on rivet shank must be completely torn off.

Run a function check.

Side window must run into gasket correctly and rest in gasket over entire width.

If necessary, adjust side window. See 51 37 154 ADJUSTING REAR LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE WINDOW .
