63 21 183 Removing and installing/replacing left or right tail light (on rear lid)

IMPORTANT: Read and comply with notes on protection against electrostatic damage (ESD PROTECTION) .

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove LEFT OR RIGHT COVER from rear lid trim panel

NOTE: For purposes of clarity, rear lid trim panel is shown removed.

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Release nut (2) and remove retaining bar (3) from rear light (4). Tightening torque 63 21 3AZ .

Feed out rear light (4) in direction of arrow and remove in outward direction from rear lid (5).

Remove SOCKET HOUSING .

Installation:

Check SEALING FRAME FOR REAR LIGHT for damage and replace if necessary.

Retaining lugs (6) of rear light (4) must not be damaged or missing.

Position retaining lugs (6) of rear light (4) exactly over side edge of rear lid (5).

Make sure retaining bar (3) is correctly seated on rear lid (5).
