41 62 014 Adjusting Tailgate

Read contents of BODY .

Observe 41 00... BODY GAP DIMENSIONS .

The tailgate must be provided with all attachment parts for correct adjustment.

Version with automatic tailgate actuation: 

Disable automatic tailgate actuation:

Separate connector at CONTROL UNIT for automatic tailgate actuation.

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Remove water gutter trim. See REAR MIDDLE WATER GUTTER TRIM (REAR LID) and REAR WATER GUTTER TRIM (REAR LID) ON LEFT OR RIGHT .
• Remove TRIM FOR REAR WINDOW FRAME

Adjusting tailgate laterally and in longitudinal direction:

Slacken screws (1) on tailgate hinge to tailgate until such stage that tailgate can still be moved.

Adjust tailgate.

Tightening torque 41 62 1AZ .

Height adjustment of tailgate to roof:

Slacken screws (2) and adjust tailgate.

Tightening torque 41 62 3AZ .

Check read lid wedge (1) on left and right for damage, replace if necessary.

Check tailgate stop (1) on body on left and right for damage, replace if necessary.

If necessary, adjust tailgate stop (1) to wedge.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove CAPPING

Slacken screws (2)

Loosen nuts (3) and adjust stop in longitudinal direction.

Tightening torque 41 62 9AZ .

Adjusting height of tailgate in relation to side panel:

Remove rubber grommet (1).

Adjust stop (2) by turning screw underneath.

After Installation note: 

• Tighten all screws and nuts to specified torque.
• Touch up unpainted surfaces in the appropriate color.
• If reversing camera optional equipment installed: 

  Calibrate REVERSING CAMERA .
