41 62 014 Adjusting Tailgate: Notes

Read relevant service information under BODY .

Observe 41 00... BODY GAP DIMENSIONS .

The tailgate must be provided with all attachment parts for correct adjustment.

Version with automatic tailgate activation: 

Deactivate automatic tailgate activation by DISCONNECTING PLUG CONNECTIONS on control unit.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove TRIM PANEL FOR REAR LID

Slacken nuts (1) and (2) until such stage that the tailgate can still be moved.

Adjust tailgate laterally and longitudinally.

Tightening torque: see 1AZ in 41 62 REAR LID

When the tailgate is closed, the striker must not touch or scrape against the tailgate lock. If necessary, remove striker.

Adjusting height of tailgate in relation to side panel:

• REMOVE TENSION SPRING 
• Remove sealing cap from opening (1).

Slacken nut (1) with a suitable tool (SW13) until hinge can be moved.

Adjust height of tailgate.

Tightening torque: see 3AZ in 41 62 REAR LID

Adjust TAILGATE CATCH .

Adjust STOP PAD .
