Removing and installing front seat, driver's side
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove CRASH-ACTIVE HEADREST
- Remove COVERS ON SEAT RAILS
- Remove OUTER COVER
- Disconnect BATTERY EARTH LEAD
An airbag module and a pyrotechnical seat belt tensioner are installed in the front seat.
Improper handling can lead to triggering of the pyrotechnical seat belt tensioner or side airbag, resulting in injuries.
Installation note:
- Powerlok screws must be replaced and must not be reused
- Powerlok screws are mechanical screw locks with trilobular threads
Move front seat rearwards.
Release screws (1).
Installation note:
Replace screws.
Tightening torque: see 1AZ in 52 10 FRONT SEATS
Move front seat forwards.
Release screws.
Installation note:
Replace screws.
Tightening torque: see 1AZ in 52 10 FRONT SEATS
Only series F01/F02:
Release screw (1).
Tightening torque: see 7AZ in 72 11 SEAT BELTS
Remove lock washer.
Pull seat belt strap (2) out of end fitting tensioner.
Only series F07:
Move front seat upwards.
Release screw (1) on front seat.
Installation note:
Replace screw.
Tightening torque: see 2AZ in 72 11 SEAT BELTS
Feed out belt end fitting (2).
Installation note:
Carpet must not project between seat rail and floor panel in area of attachment points (creaking noise).
Unclip cover (1) towards front.
Release cable strap on plug connection.
Installation note:
Replace defective cable strap.
Unfasten plug connection (2) and disconnect.
Unclip wiring harness from seat mechanism.
Cover door sill with protective covers (risk of damage).
Carefully lift out front seat.
Installation note:
Make sure wiring harness installation arrangement is correctly routed in order to avoid creaking noises, jamming or collisions.
Clip in cable clip for wiring harness.
Lay wiring harness only in area (1) of cover.
Fitting the wiring harness between the carpet and the cover in control unit area (2) will result in creaking noises.
Carry out a complete forward/back adjustment with front seat.
