52 17 035 Removing and installing/replacing gearing for head restraint adjustment

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove SHAFT FOR BACKREST HEAD ADJUSTMENT

Release screws (4) on left and right.

Tightening torque: see 10AZ in 52 10 FRONT SEATS

Remove retainer (1) on left and right.

Remove gearing (2) on left and right straight towards front.

Installation:

To ensure identical adjustment of gearings (2), carry out following work step on both gearings:

Twist out component (3) until threaded rods (5) are of equal length.
