51 16 045 Removing and installing/replacing retaining ring on left or right exterior mirror (from 07/12)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove DRIVE UNIT FOR EXTERIOR MIRROR
Remove PROTECTIVE CAP

Version with lane change warning:

Unlock plug connection (1) for optical signal transmitter and disconnect.

Release screws (1 and 2).

Installation note:

Note installation position of screws (1 and 2).

Screws (1) - metric thread
Screw (2) non-metric thread

Make sure retaining ring (3) is correctly seated (see arrows in illustration).

Release latch mechanism (1) and feed out retaining ring (2) towards rear.
