11 14 110 Removing and installing bottom timing case cover (N62 / N62TU)

Special Tools Required: 

Necessary Preliminary Tasks: 

Release screws along lines (1).

Remove timing case cover (2) towards front.

Drive out water pipe (1) with special tool 23 1 040 at cutout (2) towards front.

Installation: 

Replace water pipe (1) and sealing ring (3).

Installation: 

Clean sealing surfaces and replace seal.

Install timing case cover, insert all screws and initially tighten to approx. 5 N.m.

Fully tighten all screws in alternate sequence.

Tightening torque, refer to 11 14 1AZ in ENGINE - TIGHTENING TORQUES - 545I (4.4L) E60 .

IMPORTANT: Once all screws have been tightened down, retighten them in a second operation.

Replace radial seal in timing case at bottom. Refer to 11 14 141 REPLACING RADIAL SHAFT SEAL IN TIMING CASE COVER AT BOTTOM (N62 / N62TU) .
