Necessary preliminary tasks

Remove glass sunroof lid at front
Remove SUN VISORS AND COUNTER SUPPORTS on left/right
Remove ROOF SWITCH CLUSTER OR FRONT CEILING LIGHT
If necessary, remove MODULE FOR PASSENGER COMPARTMENT PROTECTION
Remove TRIM PANELS FOR ROOF PILLAR at front (A pillar trim panel) left/right
Remove all handles See 5116480 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING FRONT GRAB HANDLE or 5116450 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR LEFT/RIGHT GRAB HANDLE
Remove TRIM PANELS FOR DOOR PILLAR AT TOP (B pillar trim panel) left/right
Remove TRIM PANELS FOR ROOF PILLAR AT REAR (D pillar trim panel) left/right
If necessary, remove REAR SPEAKER COVERS

Version with dividing net mounts (1):

Fold back cover (2) for dividing net mount (1).

Release screw (3) and remove dividing net mount (1).

Installation:

Observe position indications on reverse side of dividing net mount (1).

Remove roller cover from luggage compartment.
Fold both rear-seat backrests forward
Move both front seat backrests as far back as possible
Pull off muckets of front and rear doors in roof area

Release screws (1).

IMPORTANT: The following tasks must be carried out with a second person assisting:
Support headliner at front.
Do not jolt roofliner edges during removal.

NOTE: Shown removed here for purposes of clarity. Graphic similar.

Unclip roofliner clamping profile (2) from bow.

Unclip side retaining clips (1) at panorama glass roof opening.

IMPORTANT: To prevent deformation of panorama glass roof frame, slide roofliner forwards until rear retaining clips (3) feed out at roofliner.

Subsequently feed retaining clips (3) out of panorama glass roof frame.

Fold away roofliner towards bottom right and remove through rear lid opening.

Installation:

Clips (1 and 2) must not be damaged.

If necessary replace clips (1 and 2).

Please observe the following operations.

1 = Clip assembly version old

2 = Clip assembly version new

Note to clip replacement version old:

Use clip part number

51 44 7 123 304 (sourcing reference BMW Parts Department) and glue it in the center of area sheet metal tab headlining with felt strip part number 65 77 1 377 052 (sourcing reference BMW Parts Department).
