13 54 045 Removing and installing/sealing a throttle valve assembly (S65)

Necessary preliminary tasks
- Read out fault memory of DME control unit
- Switch off ignition
- Follow instructions on CONNECTING AND DISCONNECTING BATTERY
- DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD and cover
- REMOVE INTAKE AIR MANIFOLD
- Remove all INJECTORS
- Release and raise cable duct for engine wiring harness; to do so, partially remove ENGINE WIRING HARNESS .
- Disengage pull rods of throttle valve actuating motor.
Release all nuts of throttle valve flanges.
Release idle air hose connection.
Lift out throttle valve bank.
Release idle air duct on throttle valve bank.
Release all screw connections on shaft (1).
Grip screws, release nuts only. Replace screws and nuts (3).
Installation:
Actuating lever (2) of throttle valve actuating motor is offset by 180° to throttle valve actuating levers.
Mounting sequence of actuating levers, bank 1
- Levers for throttle valves
- Lever from actuator motor
Installation:
Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder head.
Replace O-rings (1) on cylinder head.
Check adapter sleeves on throttle valves.
NOTE:
Assemble engine.
