65 24 100 Removing and installing/replacing antenna (radio)

NOTE: Before carrying out repairs:

Remove complete rear bumper. Refer to 51 12 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPLETE REAR BUMPER .

WARNING: When working with adhesive cleaners in enclosed rooms: Ensure room is well ventilated.
The adhesive areas must be dry and free from dust and grease.
After cleaning, do not touch bonding area with bare hands.
CAUTION: Do not under any circumstances use paint thinner to clean the bumper.
If necessary, clean the specified adhesive area with adhesive cleaner (sourcing reference: BMW Part service).
Air drying time: 1 minute

Detach cable ties for fastening antenna (1).

Carefully detach antenna (1) from adhesive bead (2).

Installation: 

If adhesive bead is undamaged: 

Glue new antenna to adhesive bead (2). Ensure uniform and careful contact pressure with a Teflon wedge or hand roller.

If adhesive bead is damaged: 

Replace butylene tape with 6 mm dia. (sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service) along marking.

Installation: 

Leave open adhesive bead (1) in vertical area. Secure antenna (2) in vertical area with an adhesive point (3).

Installation: 

Contact pressure with hand roller: approx. 30 N/cm2 Manual contact pressure: approx. 10 N/cm2

NOTE: Firm thumb pressure has approx. 50 N/cm2
