65 20 055 Removing and installing/replacing aerial base

00 9 317

See MAINTENANCE AND GENERAL INFORMATION - SPECIAL TOOLS(128i) or MAINTENANCE AND GENERAL INFORMATION - SPECIAL TOOLS (135i) .

IMPORTANT: Read and comply with notes on protection against electrostatic damage (ESD protection) ! See 61 35... NOTES ON ESD PROTECTION (ELECTRO STATIC DISCHARGE) .

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Unscrew aerial rod
Remove luggage compartment wheel arch trim on left. See 51 47 151 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WHEEL ARCH TRIM (CONVERTIBLE) .

Lever off cap (1) with special tool 00 9 317.

Installation:

Make sure cap (1) is correctly seated.

Release plastic nut (1).

Remove rod aerial cover (2) and feed out aerial base (3) towards bottom.

Disconnect plug connections (1) and remove aerial base (2).

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage by water ingress!
Make sure seal (1) is correctly seated in side section (2).

Installation:

Make sure individual parts are installed in correct sequence.

Aerial base
Lock washer
Seal
Rod aerial cover
Plastic nut
