51 22 126 Removing and installing/replacing carrier for left or right outside door handle on rear door (Security)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove door 41 52 080 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR LEFT OR RIGHT DOOR .
• Remove door window glass  . 
• Remove outside handle on rear door  . 
• Disconnect Bowden cable from door lock  . 
• Remove door lock  . 

Door handle protective cover (2) is screwed to outer skin protective cover (1). Release screw (3) on outside of door frame, release screws in inner door area (see overview in next work step). Feed out outer skin protective cover upwards through window cavity.

Installation: 

Shims for fastening protective mat must not jam between screw-in sleeve and screw head.

Tightening torque: see 22AZ in 51 71 SEALS AND LOOSE BODY PARTS

Remove door handle protective cover (1)

Tightening torque: see 22AZ in 51 71 SEALS AND LOOSE BODY PARTS

Unlock catches (3) on carrier (1).

Press carrier (1) behind door outer skin (4).

If necessary, disconnect plug on CA module.

Pull carrier (3) towards rear/top until screw (1) of sheet metal slot (2) is free.

Remove carrier (3) for outside door handle.

Installation: 

Seals (1) on carrier (3) must not be damaged.

Replacement: 

• If necessary, remove Bowden cable for outside door handle
