51 16 211 Removing and installing/replacing finisher for storage tray

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove KNOB FOR CONTROLLER
Remove BUTTON UNIT

Version with manual transmission:

Remove GAITER for gear lever

Version with automatic transmission or SMG:

Remove finisher for preselector lever. See REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TRIM FOR PRESELECTOR LEVER (FROM 03/2007) or REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TRIM FOR PRESELECTOR LEVER (UP TO 03/2007) .

If necessary, remove ashtray insert.

Release screws (1).

Open centre console cover.

Press release button for centre console cover and release trim (2) from catches (4).

Feed trim (2) towards top/rear out of storage compartment (3).

If necessary, disconnect plug connections on insert at front.

Security version:

Disconnect plug connection on intercom system switch.

Installation:

Following parts of trim (4) must not be damaged or missing:

Front insert
Retaining lugs
Pins or spring clips

Replacement:

Remove FRONT INSERT (1) .

Replacement with Security version:

Remove intercom system switch.
