51 16 200 Removing and installing storage compartment

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove trim for storage compartment 
• Remove rear compartment fresh air grille  . See 64 22 191 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR CABIN FRESH-AIR GRILLE .
• If necessary, remove USB/AUX connecting socket  . See 61 31 134 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING USB/AUDIO INTERFACE CONNECTING SOCKET .

Version with rear console: 

• Remove rear console  

Lever out trims (1) on left/right at rear end and pull out of storage compartment in direction of arrow.

Installation: 

Retainers (1) and guide (2) on trim (3) must not be damaged or missing.

Release screws (1) on storage compartment (2).

If necessary, unlock plug connections.

Build date from 03/2007: 

Release screws (1).

Remove gaiter for handbrake lever.

Release screw (1) on left/right.

Raise storage compartment (2) at rear and disconnect plug connections under storage compartment (2).

Feed out storage compartment (2) in direction of arrow over handbrake lever and gear lever and remove towards rear.

Do not damage guides (2) when feeding storage compartment (1) in.
