Test P: Low Washer Fluid Indicator Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect washer fluid level switch 2-pin harness connector at washer fluid reservoir. Measure resistance between washer fluid level switch terminals (component side), while moving washer fluid switch level to full and empty positions. Resistance should be 10 k/ohms or more in full position, and less than 5 ohms in empty position. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace washer fluid level switch.
  2. Measure resistance between ground and washer fluid level switch harness connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire between washer fluid level switch and ground point. Ground point is located at right rear of engine compartment.
  3. Disconnect instrument cluster 22-pin harness connector C266b. Measure resistance of Green/Black wire between washer fluid level switch harness connector terminal No. 2 and instrument cluster harness connector C266b terminal No. 2. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Green/Black wire.
  4. Disconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Inspect for corroded or pushed out pins. Connect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Operate system and verify if concern still exists. If concern still exists, replace instrument cluster. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . If concern does not exist, system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
