Test D: Temperature Gauge Inaccurate
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor harness connector C150. ECT sensor is located on right rear side of engine. Connect fused jumper between ground and terminal No. 1 (Blue/White wire) at ECT sensor harness connector C150. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If temperature gauge does not indicate "H", go to next step. If temperature gauge indicates "H", replace ECT sensor.
- Test temperature gauge. See TEMPERATURE GAUGE under COMPONENT TESTS. If temperature gauge tests okay, go to next step. If temperature gauge is faulty, replace temperature/fuel gauge assembly. See TEMPERATURE GAUGE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance of Blue/White wire between terminal No. 1 at ECT sensor harness connector and terminal No. 10 at instrument cluster harness connector C266a. See Figure. Resistance should be 5 ohms or less. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 10 (Blue/White wire) at instrument cluster harness C266a. Resistance should be greater than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, replace instrument cluster printed circuit and retest. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If either resistance is not as specified, repair open or short to ground in Blue/White wire.
