Test V: Low Washer Fluid Warning Never/Always On

  1. Check low washer fluid indicator miniature bulb. Turn key OFF. Remove the instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove the low washer fluid indicator miniature bulb. Measure the continuity between the terminals of the low washer fluid indicator miniature bulb. Does continuity exist? If yes, go to next step. If no, replace the low washer fluid indicator miniature bulb.
  2. Check windshield washer reservoir fluid level sensor. Turn key OFF. Locate and disconnect the windshield washer reservoir fluid level sensor connector. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the windshield washer reservoir fluid level sensor under the following conditions, if float is at bottom of reservoir resistance, less than 5 ohms. If float is off of bottom of reservoir, resistance should be greater than 10,000 ohms. If resistance readings are correct, go to next step. If no, replace the windshield washer reservoir fluid level sensor.
  3. Check windshield washer reservoir fluid level sensor ground. Turn key OFF. Disconnect the windshield washer reservoir fluid level sensor connector. Measure the resistance of the Black wire between the windshield washer reservoir fluid level sensor connector and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, service the Black wire for an open.
  4. Check wire between instrument cluster and windshield washer reservoir fluid level sensor. Turn key OFF. Locate and disconnect the instrument cluster connector C268 and the windshield washer reservoir fluid level sensor connector. Measure the resistance of the Green/Black) wire between the instrument cluster connector C268 and the windshield washer fluid level sensor connector. Measure the resistance of the Green/Black wire between the instrument cluster connector C268 and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the instrument cluster and windshield washer reservoir fluid level sensor and greater than 10,000 ohms between the instrument cluster and ground? If yes, replace the instrument cluster printed circuit. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PRINTED CIRCUIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If no, service Green/Black wire.
