AP1: Check Light Rheostat Resistor

With the ignition key in the OFF position, disconnect the light switch rheostat resistor connector.

• Depress and hold the brightening side of the light switch rheostat resistor. Measure the resistance between the Blue/Red wire terminal and the Black wire terminal No. 10 on the light switch rheostat resistor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
• Depress and hold the dimming side of the light switch rheostat resistor. Measure the resistance between the Blue/Black wire terminal and the Black wire terminal No. 10 on the light switch rheostat resistor.
• Release the light switch rheostat resistor. Measure the resistance between the Blue/Red wire terminal and the Black wire terminal No. 10 and measure the resistance between the Blue/Black wire terminal and the Black wire terminal No. 10 on the light switch rheostat resistor.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the wire terminals with either side of the light switch rheostat resistor depressed, and greater than 10,000 ohms with the light switch rheostat resistor released? If yes, go to the next step. If no, replace the light switch rheostat resistor.
