Charging System Warning

The charging system indicator is identified by a battery symbol on the Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC). When a charging system malfunction occurs, circuit DA28 closes, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  and the charging system indicator illuminates. The charging system indicator also illuminates during prove out.

When the ignition switch contacts are closed (ignition switch turned to ON), battery current flows through the charging system indicator to the voltage regulator (VR) and the charging system indicator illuminates. When the ignition switch is turned to the START position, the generator (GEN) supplies voltage to the voltage regulator, and the charging system indicator goes out. See Figure .
