Remove/Install Automatic Transmission Oil Pan - AR27.10-P-7031S

Transmission 725.0, 725.1 (except 725.163) in model 223

REMOVING
INSTALLING
Remove/install     
1.1 Remove center and rear lower engine compartment lining. Transmission 725.0 in model 223.1, 223.9
(except 223.979)

INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only install center and rear lower rear engine compartment paneling again after leak test

1.2 Remove rear bottom engine compartment lining. Transmission 725.0 in model 223.979
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only install rear lower engine compartment paneling after leak test.

2 Remove holder (13).    
3 Remove holder (11) from oil pan and place to one side with attached electrical wiring harnesses. Transmission 725.0, 725.1 (except 725.121/163/181) in model 223
NOTES
Do not crush or kink or subject electric lines to tension.
This will lead to damage to the electric lines and
impair their function.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw, electrical wiring harness holder to oil pan
*BA27.10-P-1035-04H 
4 Thoroughly clean oil pan (34) and surrounding area. Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
5 Remove screw plug (30). IMPORTANT Position oil receptacle under oil pan (34).
IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools

IMPORTANT Open screw plug (30) using SPECIAL TOOL socket wrench.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace screw plug (30).

6.1 Set overflow pipe (31) to "draining large oil filling capacities" position (Pos. 4) using socket wrench, and drain transmission oil. Transmission 725.0, 725.1 (except 725.121/163/181) in model 223

6.2 Turn overflow pipe (31) clockwise up to end stop using hexagon key size 10, lift from base, and drain transmission oil. Transmission 725.0/121/181 in model 223
IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools  , hexagon key size 10
 
7 Remove heat shield (12) from oil pan (34) and place to one side with electrical wiring harnesses attached. NOTES
Do not crush or kink or subject electric lines to
tension.
This will lead to damage to the electric lines and
impair their function.

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, heat shield to oil pan *BA27.10-P-1009-04H 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, leaf spring for heat shield to transmission *BA27.10-P-1008-04H 
8 Unscrew screws (1 to 10). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace bolts (1 to 10).
Screw in bolts (1 to 10) of oil pan (34) in numerical sequence.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw, oil pan to transmission housing
*BA27.10-P-1010-04H 
9 Remove oil pan (34) from transmission (35). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Replace oil pan (34) when replacing oil filter (32).
Oil filters (32) cannot be obtained individually.
 
10 Take overflow pipe (31) and guide tube for ultrasound measurement (29) out of oil pan (34). Only when replacing oil pan (34).
IMPORTANT When replacing oil pan (34), replace overflow pipe (31) and guide tube for ultrasound measurement (29).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Press overflow pipe (31) and guide tube for ultrasound measurement (29) firmly onto base of oil pan (34).
 
11 Remove seal (33). Only when reusing the oil pan (34).
INSTALLATION NOTES
Do not apply any sealant or sealing compound to oil pan (34) and transmission (35) Otherwise leaks may occur.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace seal (33).
 
12 Check overflow pipe (31) and guide tube for ultrasound measurement (29) for tight seating on base and for damage. If there is a problem,

replace corresponding component part.
 
CLEAN Clean     
13 Clean sealing surfaces of oil pan (34) and magnets. Only when reusing the oil pan (34).
INSTALLATION NOTES
Sealing surfaces must be absolutely free of oil and grease.
Otherwise leaks may occur.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Let assembly cleaner flash off completely.

14 Clean sealing surface at transmission (35). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Allow assembly cleaner to flash off completely.

15 Install in the reverse order.    
16 Fill transmission (35) with oil. Transmission 725.121/181 in model 223 with code ME10 (Hybrid vehicle (plug-in, PHEV)) AR27.00-P-0270EWH 
    Transmission 725.015/045/095 in model 223 Transmission 725.112/172 in model 223
NOTES
Always follow the work procedure and observe
the Operating Fluid Specifications.
Otherwise the transmission (35) will be damaged.

WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
17 Perform engine test run and check transmission for leak tightness and proper operation.    
18.1 Install center and rear lower engine compartment lining. Transmission 725.0 in model 223.1, 223.9
(except 223.979)
