Remove/Install Coolant Lines For Electric Motor Control Unit Of Drive Unit - AR08.50-P-0244S

Engine 176 in model 223 with transmission 725.1

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of transmission oil. Health risk caused by swallowing transmission oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not pour transmission oil into beverage bottles.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove upper engine cover.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Do not install upper engine cover until after the leak test. AP01.10-P-2405-01OA
2 Remove engine air intake duct upstream of air filter LH (1). SPECIAL TOOL Dismantling tool Fig 1
3 Remove lower engine compartment lining. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Only install lower engine compartment lining after leak test. AR61.20-P-1105S
4 Drain coolant for low-temperature coolant circuit.   AR20.00-P-1144SC
5 Lower steering gear and secure against falling down.   AR46.20-P-0500S
6 Remove coolant line (5) at oil cooler (7).   AR20.20-P-7441-01RQ
7 Seal connection of coolant line (5) at oil cooler (7) with suitable stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 3
8 Remove coolant line (6) at power electronics control unit (N147/2).   AR20.20-P-7441-01RQ
9 Seal connection of coolant line (6) at power electronics control unit (N147/2) with suitable stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 3
10 Remove coolant line (6) from coolant lines (8).   AR20.20-P-7441-01RQ
11 Seal coolant line (8) with suitable stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 3
12 Remove coolant line (5) from coolant radiator connection (9).   AR20.20-P-7441-01RQ
13 Seal coolant radiator connection (9) with suitable stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 3
14 Remove coolant line (5) at coolant return line (2) of charge air cooler. SPECIAL TOOL Hose clamp pliers Fig 2
15 Seal coolant return line (2) with suitable stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 3
16 Remove coolant line (5) from bracket (3).    
17 Remove screw (4) from above from longitudinal member. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Helper required for positioning coolant lines (5, 6).  
18 Remove brackets (10) from front axle carrier.    
19 Move coolant lines (5, 6) diagonally to the right under front axle carrier and then remove towards the front. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Helper required to remove coolant lines (5, 6).  
20 Install in the reverse order.    
INSPECT Check     
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
21 Perform engine test run and check coolant lines (5, 6), power electronics control unit (N147/2) and oil cooler (7) for leaks.    
22 Install lower engine compartment lining.   AR61.20-P-1105S
23 Install upper engine cover.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP01.10-P-2405-01OA
