DANGER Risk of death  caused by flying parts if pressurized gas cylinders or their valves are damaged. Risk of injury  of body parts caused by "breathing gas" streaming out or by coming into contact with components near the valve. Risk of injury  of skin and body parts caused by "breathing gas" streaming out under high pressure Work may only be done by instructed personnel. Wear protective clothing, hearing protection, safety gloves, safety glasses and face mask. AS86.10-Z-0001-01A 
WARNING Risk of injury  from engine start by remote start function Prior to starting work, open engine hood, do not reach into rotation range or hazard area of freely rotating parts, wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes AS00.00-Z-0024-01A
WARNING Risk of injury  due to fan starting unexpectedly Do not reach into the rotation area or danger zone of the fan. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. AS20.40-Z-0001-01A

  Preparatory activity     
1 Open hood and trunk lid.

REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR
Remove rear panel trim (2).   AR68.30-P-4750SG
REMOVING Remove     
3 Remove right rear engine compartment trim (22).    
4 Unclip retaining clips (5) of air duct segment (4) and place air duct segment (4) on one side with the lines attached to it. NOTES Do not crush or kink or subject electric lines to tension.
Damage can otherwise occur.
 
INSPECT Check     
5 Check irritant gas sensor (6) for correct seating, cracks, deformation and soiling. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
6 Read off reservoir pressure of emergency fresh-air system pressurized gas cylinder (3). FLUID SPECIFICATION Reservoir pressure
If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.

7 Check manufacturing date (8) of emergency fresh-air system pressurized gas cylinder (3). If, according to the specified manufacturing date (8) on the emergency fresh-air system pressurized gas cylinder (3), the maximum service life of 10 years has been reached or exceeded, or is reached or exceeded within the next service interval,

Replace emergency fresh-air system pressurized gas cylinder (3).
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
8 Check visible component parts, lines and hoses of emergency fresh-air system for damage, correct mounting and corrosion. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
9 Check that seal (9) on emergency fresh-air system is present and undamaged. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
10 Carry out self-test of emergency fresh-air system. If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.

INSTALLING Install     
11 Install air duct segment (4) and clip in retaining clips (5).    
12 Install right rear engine compartment trim (22).    
  Finishing activity

REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR
Install rear panel trim (2).   AR68.30-P-4750SG
14 Close hood and trunk lid.
