	Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work.	Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.	AS42.50-Z-0002-01A

	Remove/install
1	Remove cover over brake fluid reservoir.
2	Clean area around cap of brake fluid reservoir.	Assembly cleaner	*BR00.45-Z-1028-04A
3	Remove cap of brake fluid reservoir and suction off some brake fluid.	This prevents the brake fluid reservoir from overflowing when the brake pistons are pushed back.
4	Remove front wheels.		AR40.10-P-1102A
5	Disconnect brake lining wear sensor wiring harness (2) from brake lining wear sensor.	If the brake linings (1) on the right side of the vehicle are removed.
6	Unscrew screw (5) of brake lining wear sensor wiring harness (2).	If the brake linings (1) on the right side of the vehicle are removed.

7	Hammer out retaining pins (4) with punch.	Drive in retaining pins (4) up to the end stop. Make sure that the spreader spring (6) is seated correctly.
8	Remove screw (8) of brake hose holder.	Screw, bracket for brake hose to strut	*BA42.10-P-1006-04R
9	Unscrew brake hose at brake caliper (3).		AR42.10-P-0026SG
10	Remove screws (7).	For loosening and tightening the screw (7), use tools that are suitable for torques over 400 Nm. Replace screws (7).

11	Remove brake caliper (3) and secure to vehicle free of tension.
12	Remove brake linings (1) with spreader spring (6) from brake caliper (3).	Do not apply brake paste or lubricants to brake linings (1) and brake calipers (3). Otherwise malfunctions will occur. Install only sets of brake linings (1) approved by Mercedes-Benz. Note installation position of brake linings (1). Press out seized brake linings (1) using a lever.

13	Pull brake lining wear sensor out of backing plate of brake lining (1).	When replacing brake lining (1) or right front brake lining wear sensor.
	Check
14	Check condition of spreader spring (6).	If there is a problem, ↓ replace spreader spring (6).
15	Check brake linings (1) for wear and condition.
		If there is a problem, ↓ replace brake linings (1) in sets.	AP42.10-P-4252HH
16	Check condition of brake disk.
		If there is a problem, ↓ replace brake disks and brake linings (1) in sets.	AP42.10-P-4256A

17	Check brake caliper (3) for damage.	If there is a problem, ↓ replace brake caliper (3).

	Clean
18	Clean contact surfaces of brake linings (1) at brake caliper (3).	Do not use sharp-edged or pointed objects. Otherwise brake caliper (3) and dust boot at brake piston may be damaged.

19	Press back brake pistons all the way using pusher tool.	Secure remaining brake pistons to prevent them slipping out.

20	Install in the reverse order.

22	Perform brake test on test stand.
