Remove/Install Front Fixed Element Of Panoramic Sliding Sunroof - AR77.21-P-0803MFB

Model 243, 247 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof)

WARNING Risk of injury  due to snapping or warming up of cutting wire and due to splinters when cutting out glued panoramic roofs Wear cut-proof gloves and safety glasses. AS77.21-Z-0002-01A 
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

Notice  Notes on removal/installation of bonded elements of panoramic roof   AH77.21-P-0001-01A 
REMOVING Remove     
1 Open side window in driver door. IMPORTANT So that the freshly glued in stationary front element (1) of the panoramic sliding sunroof is not pressed outwards due to the air pressure when the doors are closed.  
2 Determine gap dimension (A) between the front stationary element (1) and the flexible glass panel (3) and note down. SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 1
3 Determine gap dimension (B) between the front stationary element (1) and the windshield (6) and note down. SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 1
4 Open flexible glass panel (3) of the panoramic roof.    
5 Remove left and right roof railing. Model 243, 247.6/7
with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof)
with code 720 (Roof railing)

6 Remove drip rails (2). Model 243

7 Press seal (arrow) of the windshield (6) toward the front and fix in place with fabric tape. Adhesive fabric tape *BR00.45-Z-1062-02A 
8 Mask off adjacent paint surfaces with fabric tape. Adhesive fabric tape *BR00.45-Z-1062-02A 
9 Route cutting wire (4) as shown under the front stationary element (1).    
10 Cut through adhesive beads (5) in the direction of the arrow. NOTES
Additionally cover body with cloth. Otherwise the paint on the body can be damaged.
NOTES
Protect front stationary element (1) from being cut into by cutting wire (4) using the shields SPECIAL TOOL .
Otherwise the front stationary element (1) must be replaced.
IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.
 
11 Remove front stationary element (1). SPECIAL TOOL Set of shields Fig 2
INSTALLING Install     
12 Prepare front stationary element (1) for installation.   AR77.21-P-0803-02MFB 
    NOTES
Before starting work, all component parts, materials, and tools must be prepared for the installation of the front stationary element (1). Otherwise it may not be possible to maintain permissible processing and joining times.
NOTES
Only use the repair kit approved by the manufacturer from the replacement part system. 
Otherwise, the front stationary element (1) and the panorama roof frame will have adhesion problems. 
IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Wet/dry vacuum cleaner
 
13 Prepare panoramic sliding sunroof frame.   AR77.21-P-0803-03MFB 
    NOTES
Only use the repair kit approved by the manufacturer from the replacement part system.
Otherwise, the front stationary element (1) and the panorama roof frame will have adhesion problems.
IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Wet/dry vacuum cleaner
 
14 Apply adhesive material for the front stationary element (1).   AR77.21-P-0803-04MFB 
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 00 72 00 Sealing and corrosion protection gun   WS97.00-P-0001B
    NOTES
Apply adhesive material as quickly as possible and position front stationary element (1) on the panoramic sliding sunroof frame and fix it in place.
Otherwise the strength of the adhesive connection can be impaired and proper adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.
NOTES
Only use the repair kit approved by the manufacturer from the replacement part system.
Otherwise, the front stationary element (1) and the panorama roof frame will have adhesion problems.

15 Position front stationary element (1) on the panoramic sliding sunroof frame and align. NOTES
The vehicle must not be driven for at least 3 hours after gluing in the front stationary element (1).
Otherwise the strength of the adhesive connection can be impaired and proper adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.
IMPORTANT Observe the distances of the front stationary element (1) determined before removal in relation to its detachable parts.
IMPORTANT Center front stationary element (1) between side roof panelings.
IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.

16 Remove textile adhesive tape.    
17 Install drip rails (2). Model 243
with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof)

    Model 247

18 Install left and right roof railing. Model 243, 247.6/7
with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof)
with code 720 (Roof railing)
 
      AR77.40-P-5000MFX 
19 Close flexible glass panel (3) of the panoramic roof.    
INSPECT Check     
20 Before initially driving the vehicle, check strength of adhesively bonded connection by means of the produced reference adhesive bead. NOTES
The vehicle must not be driven for at least 3 hours after gluing in the front stationary element (1).
Otherwise the strength of the adhesive connection can be impaired and proper adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.
 
21 After the adhesively bonded connection is completely cured, remove weights for weighing down the front stationary element (1). NOTES
Do not remove weights before reference adhesive bead is completely cured.
Otherwise the strength of the adhesive connection can be impaired and proper adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.
 
22 Normalize panoramic sliding sunroof with diagnostic system and perform teach-in run for automatic reversing function.
