The following operation steps are shown on vehicles with engine 282.
Connection scheme
Connection scheme
- Stick felt tape onto red line (RD) of electric fan wiring harness (25).
- Insulate blue/yellow line (BU/YE) and red/blue line (RD/BU) of electric fan wiring harness (25) and strap down.
- Remove black 4-pin coupling (34) from fan motor (M4/7).
- Remove brown line (34.8) of vehicle wiring harness from fan motor ground point (W2/2).
- Cut off all lines (34.5, 34.6, 34.7, 34.8) of vehicle wiring harness on black 4-pin coupling housing (34).
The black 4-pin coupling housing (34) is no longer required.
- Insulate brown line (34.8) of vehicle wiring harness and strap down.
- Insulate red line (34.7) of vehicle wiring harness and strap down.
- Cut through blue/yellow line (BU/YE) and red/blue line (RD/BU) of electric fan wiring harness (25).
Cut through blue/yellow line (BU/YE) and red/blue line (RD/BU) approx. 100 mm behind black 4-pin clutch housing (25.3).
- Strip blue/yellow line (34.5) of vehicle wiring harness and blue/yellow line (25.5) of electric fan wiring harness (25) using
wire stripper, and connect to each other using end sleeve (27).
The end sleeve (27) is available in the
basic wiring harness repair kit or the
supplementary wiring harness repair kit for passenger cars.
To do so, use the
welding pearl catcher, the
reflector and the
adapter.
- Strip red/blue line (34.6) of vehicle wiring harness and red/blue line (25.6) of electric fan wiring harness (25) using
wire stripper, and connect to each other using end sleeve (27).
The end sleeve (27) is available in the
basic wiring harness repair kit or the
supplementary wiring harness repair kit for passenger cars.
To do so, use the
welding pearl catcher, the
reflector and the
adapter.
- Insulate blue/yellow line (BU/YE) and red/blue line (RD/BU) of electric fan wiring harness (25) and strap down.
- Wrap fabric tape around end sleeves (27) (99) and fasten to electric fan wiring harness (25).
- Attach black 4-pin clutch housing (25.3) to fan motor (M4/7).
- Attach brown line (BN) of electric fan wiring harness (25) to fan motor ground point (W2/2)

- Route red line (RD) of electric fan wiring harness (25) at vehicle wiring harness to engine compartment pre-fuse box (F150/3) and secure with cable ties.
- Route red line (RD) of electric fan wiring harness (25) at vehicle wiring harness behind holder (5) up to engine compartment pre-fuse box (F150/3), and secure with cable ties.
- Remove cable tie (arrow A) of red line of vehicle wiring harness from engine compartment pre-fuse box (F150/3).
- Detach red line of vehicle wiring harness from contact cavity A5 (arrow B) of engine compartment pre-fuse box (F150/3).
- Cut line lug off red line of vehicle wiring harness.
- Insulate red line of vehicle wiring harness and strap down.
- Attach red line (RD) of electric fan wiring harness (25) to contact cavity A5 (arrow B) of engine compartment pre-fuse box (F150/3)

- Attach red line (RD) of electric fan wiring harness (25) to engine compartment pre-fuse box (F150/3) using new cable ties (arrow A).
