P0114 IAT Sensor IAT out of On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) range. IAT temperature higher or lower than expected during Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) and Key ON Engine Running (KOER). P0116 Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor ECT out of OBD range. ECT higher or lower than expected during KOEO and KOER. Rerun OBD test at normal operating temperature. REFER to the INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE ENGINES article or INTRODUCTION - 6.4L DIESEL ENGINES article.

P0300, P0308, P0320, P0340, P1351- 1364 Electronic Ignition (EI) System Electronic Ignition system concerns. EI system is inoperative, which may cause a transmission concern. P0500, P1502 ABS Insufficient Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) input from ABS through Standard Corporate Protocol (SCP) link. PCM detected a loss of VSS signal through SCP link from ABS. No transmission symptom, Instrument Cluster (IC), speedometer may be affected. REFER to the INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE ENGINES article or INTRODUCTION - 6.4L DIESEL ENGINES articlea .
P0503 ABS Intermittent VSS input from ABS through SCP link. PCM detected an intermittent loss of VSS signal through SCP link from ABS. No transmission symptom, IC, speedometer may be affected. REFER to the INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE ENGINES article or INTRODUCTION - 6.4L DIESEL ENGINES articlea .
P0603  Transmission Control Module (TCM) Internal control module Keep Alive Memory (KAM) error The TCM has encountered an internal error of the KAM Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may be illuminated, DTC set. MAKE SURE to check for aftermarket performance products before installing a new TCM . CLEAR the DTCs, REPEAT the self-test. If the DTC returns, INSTALL a new TCM .
P0604  Transmission Control Module (TCM) Internal control module Random Access Memory (RAM) error The TCM has encountered an internal error of the RAM . MIL may be illuminated, DTC set. INSTALL a new TCM .
P0605  Transmission Control Module (TCM) Internal control module Read-Only Memory (ROM) error The TCM has encountered an internal error of the ROM . MIL may be illuminated, DTC set. REPROGRAM or UPDATE the calibration. CHECK for other DTCs and DIAGNOSE those first. MAKE SURE to check for aftermarket performance products before installing a new TCM . CLEAR the DTCs, REPEAT the self-test. If the DTC returns, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION SYSTEM F250-F550 SUPER DUTY-->.
P0607  TCM TCM Performance The TCM Central Processing Unit (CPU) has encountered an internal error or incomplete programming. MIL may be illuminated, DTC set. REPROGRAM or UPDATE the calibration. CHECK for other DTCs and DIAGNOSE those first. MAKE SURE to check for aftermarket performance products before installing a new TCM . CLEAR the DTCs, REPEAT the self-test. If the DTC returns, INSTALL a new TCM .
P0657 Actuator Supply Voltage A Actuator Supply Voltage A high side power supply circuit failed. Actuator Supply Voltage A high side power supply circuit failed. Only REVERSE, NEUTRAL and 5th gear available. Engine RPM at idle is about 1,000 RPM when Actuator Supply Voltage A is off as a Failure Mode Effect Management action. Power to all solenoids has been interrupted. CHECK for opens, short to ground and the harness disconnected. REPAIR as required. When Actuator Supply Voltage A is commanded OFF as a Failure Mode Effect Management action, CHECK all solenoids for correct function as listed in the band, clutch, solenoid and switch application chart. For additional information on diagnosing PCM concerns, refer to the INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE ENGINES article or INTRODUCTION - 6.4L DIESEL ENGINES article.
P0700 PCM/ Transmission Control Module (TCM) Transmission control system DTC present. TCM has sent a DTC error code to PCM indicating that additional TCM DTCs may be present. Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may be illuminated. Other transmission concerns present. Code set in PCM to indicate that there is a transmission code(s) present and technician should check the TCM for codes. RERUN OBD test and retrieve transmission DTCs from TCM.
P0706 Transmission Range (TR) Sensor TR sensor frequency fault detected. TR sensor signal frequency is out of normal range. Only REVERSE, NEUTRAL and 5th gear detected. Engine may not crank. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test C . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test H .
P0707 TR Sensor TR sensor circuit duty cycle low input. TR sensor signal duty cycle is below threshold, sensor/circuit electrical malfunction. Only REVERSE, NEUTRAL and 5th gear detected. Engine may not crank. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test C . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test H .
P0708 TR Sensor TR sensor circuit duty cycle high input. TR sensor signal duty cycle is above threshold, sensor/circuit electrical malfunction. Only REVERSE, NEUTRAL and 5th gear detected. Engine may not crank. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test C . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test H .
P0711 Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) Sensor No change if TFT during operation. PCM has detected no TFT change during operation. TFT stuck at some normal reading. No 5th or 6th gears. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test B . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test G .
P0712, P0710 TFT Sensor 157°C (315°F) indicated, TFT sensor circuit grounded. Voltage drop across TFT sensor exceeds scale set for temperature of 157°C (315°F). No 5th or 6th gears. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test B . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test G .
P0713, P0710 TFT Sensor -40°C (-40°F) indicated, TFT sensor circuit grounded. Voltage drop across TFT sensor exceeds scale set for temperature of -40°C (-40°F). No 5th or 6th gears. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test B . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test G .
P0715 Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS) Sensor Insufficient input from TSS. PCM detected a loss of TSS signal during operation. Harsh shifts and engagements, engine RPM higher or lower than expected. No 1st, 3rd or 5th gear. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test D . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test I .
P0717 TSS Sensor No TSS signal. PCM has not detected a TSS signal. Harsh shifts and engagements, engine RPM higher or lower than expected. No 1st, 3rd or 5th gear. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test D . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test I .
P0718 TSS Sensor TSS signal noisy. PCM has detected a noisy TSS signal. - For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test D . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test I .
P0720 Output Shaft Speed (OSS) Sensor Insufficient input from OSS. PCM detected a loss of OSS signal during operation. No 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 6th gear. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test D . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test I .
P0721 OSS Sensor OSS signal noisy. PCM has detected a noisy OSS signal. - For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test D . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test I .
P0722 OSS Sensor No OSS signal. PCM has detected no OSS signal. No 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 6th gear. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test D . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test I .
P0730 Clutch Control Solenoid or Internal Parts Gear ratio error. PCM has detected a gear ratio error. One-Way Clutch (OWC) clutch or clutches may have failed. Incorrect gear selection depending on failure or mode and manual lever position. Shift errors may also be due to other internal transmission concerns (stuck valves, damaged friction material). Engine RPM could be higher or lower than expected. May flash Transmission Control Indicator Lamp (TCIL). REFER to PID P0730_Status Chart, in Diagnostic Parameters Identification (PID) Chart , for a specific failure. REFER to the Solenoid Application charts located at the beginning of Pinpoint Tests - OSC Equipped Vehicles. If other solenoid DTCs are present, for gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test A . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test F . If only P0730 and/or 2700 series DTCs are present, INSTALL the appropriate clutch solenoid. CLEAR the DTCs, and road test the vehicle. If the concern is still present, REPAIR/INSTALL new internal transmission components.
P0740a Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Solenoid TCC solenoid open circuit failure. TCC solenoid circuit fails to provide voltage drop across solenoid. Circuit open. Open circuit: TCC never engages. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test A . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test F .
P0741 TCC Solenoid TCC solenoid circuit performance error. Torque converter slippage detected during engagement command indicating a concern with mechanical or hydraulic operation of the TCC. TCC slippage when commanded on indicating a concern with the mechanical or hydraulic TCC operation. No TCC engagement. REFER to Diagnosis By Symptom .
P0742 TCC Solenoid TCC solenoid circuit shorted to ground. TCC solenoid circuit fails to provide voltage drop across solenoid. Shorted to ground. Short circuit: Only 5th gear at low vehicle speeds. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test A . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test F .
P0743 TCC Solenoid TCC solenoid circuit failure. TCC solenoid circuit fails to provide voltage drop across solenoid. Circuit open, shorted or PCM driver failure during OBD test. Open circuit: TCC never engages. Maximum Pressure Control Solenoid A (PCA) pressure, harsh engagement and shifts.
Short circuit: Only 5th gear.

P0744 TCC Solenoid TCC solenoid circuit shorted to power. TCC solenoid circuit fails to provide voltage drop across solenoid. Circuit shorted to power. No torque converter engagement. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test A . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test F .
P0748b Pressure Control Solenoid A (PCA) PCA circuit failure. Voltage through PCA is checked. An error will be noted if parameters are exceeded. Open circuit: maximum PCA pressure, harsh engagements and shifts. Engine RPM higher than expected.
Only 5th gear present.

P0750a Shift Solenoid Pressure Control A (SSPCA) Coast Clutch SSPCA circuit open. SSPCA circuit failed to provide voltage drop across solenoid. Circuit open or PCM driver failure during OBD test. No 2nd, 4th or 6th gear. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test A . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test F .
P0751 SSPCA Coast Clutch SSPCA clutch or solenoid failure - OFF. SSPCA clutch or solenoid failed in the OFF position during operation resulting in HIGH pressure in the hydraulic circuit. Tow/Haul OFF or O/D ON:
Normal driving mode
  • No 1st gear available.

Tow/Haul ON or O/D OFF:
  • No 1st, 3rd or 5th gears available.

P0752 SSPCA Coast Clutch SSPCA clutch or solenoid failure - ON. SSPCA clutch or solenoid failed in the ON position during operation resulting in LOW pressure in the hydraulic circuit. Tow/Haul OFF or O/D ON:
Normal driving mode.
  • Temperature below -15°C (4°F) only 4th gear is operative.
  • Temperature above -15°C (4°F) only 6th gear is operative.

Tow/Haul ON or O/D OFF:
  • No 2nd, 4th or 6th gears available.

P0753a SSPCA Coast Clutch SSPCA circuit failure. SSPCA circuit failed to provide voltage drop across solenoid. Circuit failure or PCM driver failure. Tow/Haul OFF or O/D ON:
  • No 2nd, 4th, 5th or 6th gears available.
  • No gears available.

Tow/Haul ON or O/D OFF:
  • No 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 6th gears available.

P0755a Shift Solenoid Pressure Control B (SSPCB) O/D Clutch SSPCB circuit open. SSPCB circuit, clutch or solenoid failed to provide voltage drop across solenoid. Circuit open or PCM driver failure during OBD test. Tow/Haul OFF or O/D ON:
  • Only 1st or 3rd gears available.

Tow/Haul ON or O/D OFF:
  • Only 5th gear available.

P0756 SSPCB O/D Clutch SSPCB clutch or solenoid - OFF. SSPCB clutch or solenoid failed in the OFF position during operation resulting in LOW pressure in the hydraulic circuit. Tow/Haul OFF or O/D ON:

P0762 SSPCC Intermediate Clutch SSPCC clutch or solenoid failure - ON. SSPCC clutch or solenoid failed in the ON position during operation resulting in HIGH pressure in the hydraulic circuit. Only 3rd and 4th gear available. REFER to Diagnosis By Symptom .
P0763a SSPCC Intermediate Clutch SSPCC circuit failure. SSPCC circuit failed to provide voltage drop across solenoid. Circuit failure or PCM driver failure. Tow/Haul OFF or O/D ON:

P0768 SSPCD Direct Clutch SSPCD circuit failure. SSPCD circuit failed to provide voltage drop across solenoid. Circuit failure or PCM driver failure. Tow/Haul OFF or O/D ON:

P0791 Intermediate Shaft Speed Sensor Insufficient input from intermediate shaft speed sensor. PCM detected an insufficient signal from the intermediate shaft speed sensor during operation. Harsh shifts or engagements, engine RPM higher or lower than expected. No 1st, 3rd or 5th gears. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test D . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test I .
P0793 Intermediate Shaft Speed Sensor No input from intermediate shaft speed sensor. PCM detected a loss of intermediate shaft speed sensor signal during operation. Harsh shifts or engagements, engine RPM higher or lower than expected. No 1st, 3rd or 5th gears. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test D . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test I .
P0794 Intermediate Shaft Speed Sensor Intermediate shaft speed sensor signal intermittent. PCM has detected an intermittent intermediate shaft speed sensor signal. - For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test D . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test I .
P0960b PCA PCA circuit open failure. Voltage through PCA is checked. An error will be noted if parameters are exceeded. Open circuit: maximum PCA pressure, harsh engagements and shifts. Engine RPM higher than expected. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test E . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test J .
P0962b PCA PCA short to ground circuit failure. Voltage through PCA is checked. An error will be noted if parameters are exceeded. Short circuit: Only 5th gear present. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test E . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test J .
P0963 PCA PCA short to power circuit failure. Voltage through PCA is checked. An error will be noted if parameters are exceeded. Maximum PCA pressure, harsh engagements and shifts. Engine RPM higher than expected. For gasoline engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test E . For diesel engine vehicles, go to Pinpoint Test J .
