    • If the message center display turns on, the system is operating normally at this time. The message center display was set to a blank display.
    • If the message center display is still blank, INSTALL a new instrument cluster (IC). REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • Not all segments of the display illuminate

  • The XXX MILES/KM TO E FUEL LEVEL LOW warning is inoperative

  • VERIFY that the fuel gauge operates correctly and that there is less than approximately 3 gallons of fuel in the tank.
      NOTE: The miles to empty warning only displays at 80 km (50 miles) to empty which is equal to approximately 3-5 gallons of fuel remaining. This is a learned strategy based on fuel economy and changes from its default setting.
    • If the fuel gauge operates correctly, INSTALL a new instrument cluster (IC). REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM, PARK BRAKE ENGAGED or BRAKE FLUID LEVEL LOW warning is inoperative/always on

  • SJB
  • CHECK the operation of the brake warning indicator.
    • If the brake warning indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new instrument cluster (IC). REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The DRIVER, PASSENGER, REAR LEFT or REAR RIGHT DOOR AJAR warning is inoperative/always on
  • Interior lighting concern

  • CHECK the operation of the door ajar reconfigurable telltale warning indicator.
    • If the door ajar reconfigurable telltale warning indicator does not operate correctly, go to Pinpoint Test AM .
    • If the door ajar reconfigurable telltale warning indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new instrument cluster (IC). REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM warning is inoperative/always on
  • Instrument cluster (IC)
  • VERIFY that the charging system warning indicator operates correctly.
    • If the charging system warning indicator does not operate correctly, go to Pinpoint Test Z .
    • If the charging system warning indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new instrument cluster (IC). REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR FAULT, LOW TIRE PRESSURE or TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR FAULT warning is inoperative/always on
  • SJB
  • Instrument cluster (IC)
  • VERIFY that the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning indicator operates correctly.
    • If the TPMS reconfigurable telltale indicator does not operate correctly, go to Pinpoint Test Y .
    • If the TPMS reconfigurable telltale indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new instrument cluster (IC). REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The TRAIN LEFT FRONT, RIGHT FRONT, RIGHT REAR, INNER RGT REAR, LEFT REAR, INNER LEFT REAR, SPARE TIRE, TRAINING COMPLETE OR TIRES NOT TRAINED-REPEAT message is inoperative/always on
  • Tire training
  • If the TPMS message is always on, CARRY out the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensor training. REFER to WHEELS AND TIRES article.
 
  • SJB
  • Instrument cluster (IC)
  • If the TPMS message is never displayed, OBSERVE the operation of the TPMS warning indicator.
    • If the TPMS pressure warning indicator does not operate correctly, go to Pinpoint Test Y .
    • If the TPMS message indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new instrument cluster (IC). REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The WIRING FAULT ON TRAILER, TRAILER BRAKE MODULE FAULT or TRAILER DISCONNECTED warning is inoperative/always on
  • Instrument cluster (IC) configuration
  • Trailer brake control system
  • OBSERVE the trailer brake warning and confirm customer concern.
    • If the trailer brake warning is inoperative, VERIFY the vehicle is equipped with the trailer brake control system and that the instrument cluster (IC) is correctly configured for trailer brakes. REFER to MODULE CONFIGURATION article.
  • The DRAIN WATER SEPARATOR warning is inoperative/always on (diesel only)
  • Instrument cluster (IC)
  • CHECK the operation of the water in fuel reconfigurable telltale indicator.
    • If the water in fuel reconfigurable telltale indicator does not operate correctly, go to Pinpoint Test AF .
    • If the water in fuel reconfigurable telltale indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new instrument cluster (IC). REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.

    • If the instrument cluster (IC) DTC B1868 is not present, the system is operating correctly. The air bag secondary warning chime sounds only when a fault in the air bag warning indicator is present and DTC B1868 is recorded.
    • If the instrument cluster (IC) DTC B1868 is present, INSTALL a new instrument cluster (IC). REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The message center warning chime is inoperative
  • Instrument cluster (IC)
  • VERIFY that the door ajar chime sounds when the door is first opened and that as new warning messages display, the warning chime sounds.
    • If the door ajar chime sounds when the door is first opened or when new warning messages display, the system is operating correctly at this time. The message center warning chime only sounds when the message center detects new warning messages.
    • If the door ajar chime does not sound when the door is first opened and when new warning messages display, INSTALL a new instrument cluster (IC). REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
