Remove/Install Rear Cover On Cylinder Head - AR01.30-P-5702MFG

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove upper engine cover.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP01.10-P-2405-01K
2 Remove charge air pipe downstream of exhaust gas turbocharger.   AR09.41-P-1333MFG
3 Remove noise insulation above the rear cap from the cylinder head (1).    
4 Release and disconnect electrical connectors (3). NOTES Do not kink electric lines and subject them to tension.
The electric lines will otherwise be damaged.
 
5 Remove bolt (4) and place purge line (5) to one side. NOTES Do not kink purge line (5) and subject it to tension.
The purge line (5) will otherwise be damaged.
 
6 Remove screws (2) in reverse order to tightening procedure. Tightening procedure for cap on cylinder head
IMPORTANT Observe notes on the tightening procedure.

7 Remove rear cap from cylinder head (1). NOTES To remove it, do not drive in any tools between the rear cap on cylinder head (1) and the cylinder head.
Sealing surfaces will otherwise be damaged.
 
CLEAN Clean     
8 Clean sealing surface on the rear cap on the cylinder head (1) using a lint-free cloth. NOTES Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
The sealing surface will otherwise be damaged.
Assembly cleaner

9 Clean sealing surface on the cylinder head with a lint-free cloth. NOTES Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
The sealing surface will otherwise be damaged.

INSTALLING Install     
10 Modify the camshaft solenoids. If the rear cap on cylinder head (1) is replaced. AR05.20-P-7295MFG
11 Apply a new sealant according to sealant path. Apply sealant to rear cap on cylinder head AR01.30-P-0002-01MFG 
    IMPORTANT Apply sealing compound to the sealing surface of the rear cap on the cylinder head (1).
Observe notes on sealant path.
Sealant, Loctite 5970, 50 ml

    SPECIAL TOOL Application gun Fig 1
12 Attach the rear cap to cylinder head (1).    
13 Screw in screws (2) according to the tightening procedure. Tightening procedure for cap on cylinder head
IMPORTANT Observe notes on the tightening procedure.
IMPORTANT Replace screw/bolts (2).

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, front cover to cylinder head/cylinder head cover *BA01.30-P-1003-01DA 
14 Connect and lock electrical connectors (3).    
15 Attach purge line (5) and screw in screw (4). TORQUE SPECIFICATION M6x1 *BA00.10-P-1002-04A 
16 Remove noise insulation above the rear cap from the cylinder head (1).    
17 Install charge air pipe downstream of the exhaust gas turbocharger. IMPORTANT Only install upper engine cover after the leak test. AR09.41-P-1333MFG
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
18 Perform engine test run. While doing so, check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.    
19 Install upper engine cover.
