	Risk of burn injuries  , suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust.	Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the danger zone.	AS49.00-Z-0001-01A

	Remove/install
1	Remove the rear engine support.	Engine 176 in model 167	AR22.10-P-4360MNO
		Engine 177 in model 167	AR22.10-P-4360MNP
		Only install lower center and rear engine compartment lining again after leak test.
2	Remove screw (7).	Engine 176 in model 167 with code 598 (Gasoline particulate filter (GPF) with sensor system) Perform operation step at both gasoline particulate filters.
		Bolt, holder to gasoline particulate filter	*BA49.10-P-1012-02W
3	Unscrew union nuts (8), seal exposed openings with suitable stop plugs and place pressure lines (9) to one side.	Engine 176 in model 167 with code 598 (Gasoline particulate filter (GPF) with sensor system)
	Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths		AH00.00-P-0015-01CW
		Perform operation step at both gasoline particulate filters.

4	Remove clamps (2).	Replace seals.
		Engine 176 in model 167Clamp, front exhaust system to center exhaust system	*BA49.10-P-1006-02W
		Engine 177 in model 167Clamp, front exhaust system to center exhaust system If the clamps (2) are damaged or weakened by corrosion, ↓ Replace clamps (2).	*BA49.10-P-1005-02E
5	Release, disconnect electrical connectors (2) and remove wiring harness from exhaust system (1).	The number of electrical connectors (5) varies depending on the vehicle equipment.
6	Release, disconnect electrical connector (10) and remove wiring harness from exhaust system (1).	Engine 177 in model 167 with code U78 (AMG sports exhaust system)
7	Remove screws (3) and support exhaust system (1) in the rear area.

8	Remove screws (4) and lower exhaust system (1) in the front area and remove it.	Aid of helper required.
		Engine 176 in model 167Bolt, center exhaust system to holder for elastomer bearing	*BA49.10-P-1007-02W
		Engine 177 in model 167Bolt, holder for decoupling element to front exhaust system	*BA49.10-P-1022-02E
9	Remove combustion and corrosion residues.
10	Check elastomer bearings (6) for damage.	If the elastomer bearings (6) are damaged, ↓ Replace corresponding elastomer bearings (6).
		Lubricant, rubber assembly 1 L	*BR00.45-Z-1010-06A
11	Install in the reverse order.
12	Check installation position and clearance of exhaust system (1) and correct if necessary.
13	Read out and delete fault memory.

	Check
	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
14	Perform engine test run; check engine for proper operation and check exhaust system (1) for leak tightness.
15	Install bottom center and rear engine compartment paneling.		AR61.20-P-1105ME
