	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. 	Preparatory tasks
1	Determine degree of inclination for main headlamps
	Notes on determining headlamp aiming values	The degree of inclination for the main headlamps is specified on the model plate on the B-pillar on the passenger side.	AH82.10-P-1005-01A
2	Park the vehicle on a horizontal, level surface	Maximum permissible height difference of surface for: vehicle: ± 1 mm/m headlamp aimer (01): ± 0.5 mm/m.
3	Align headlamp aimer (01)
	000 588 11 21 00 Adjustment device	It is essential to align the headlamp aimer (01) parallel to the front of the vehicle. The headlamp adjustment will otherwise be incorrect, which can then jeopardize the road safety of the vehicle! Align the headlamp aimer (01) at a distance (A) of approx. 30 cm in front of the left or right front lamp unit (E1) level with the left or right low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16) parallel to the front of the vehicle. Other country-specific regulations or specifications in the operating instructions from the headlamp aiming device manufacturer must be observed accordingly.	WS82.00-P-0151B
4	Set specified degree of inclination for main headlamps at headlamp aimer (01)
5	Switch on low beam at exterior lights switch	When testing and adjusting the low beams, make sure that the extended fog light function is not  active.
	Check and, if necessary, adjust (checking and adjustment of the low beams is described at the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16); the same procedure is used for the right side.)
6	Check height adjustment of left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16); adjust if necessary	If the height adjustment is correct, the light-dark boundary (1) of the light gradient for the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16) to the left of the center mark (3) must be congruent with the reference line for the height adjustment (2) in the headlamp aimer (01), corresponding to the colored representation. The colored area of the light-dark boundary (1) of the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16) must be above the reference line for the height adjustment (2), corresponding to the colored representation. If the height adjustment of the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16) is not correct: ↓ Perform zero position adjustment using diagnostic system in suspension control unit.
		↓ Prepare alignment of headlamp aimer (01).	AD00.00-P-2000-04B
		↓ Switch on rectangular diagnostic light pattern using diagnostic system.	AP82.10-P-8260-09HA
		↓ When the diagnostic light pattern is switched on and the height adjustment is correct, the horizontal light-dark boundary (1) of the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16) to the left of the center mark (3) must be congruent with the reference line for the height adjustment (2) in the headlamp aimer (01). The colored area of the light-dark boundary (1) of the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16) must be above the reference line for the height adjustment (2). If the height adjustment of the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16) is not correct with the diagnostic light pattern switched on: ↓ Turn the adjustment screw for the height adjustment (H) to correct the height adjustment of the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16). 7	Check lateral adjustment of left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16); adjust if necessary	If the lateral adjustment is correct, the light-dark boundary (1) of the light gradient for the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16) starting at the center mark (3) on the right must be congruent with the reference line for the lateral adjustment (4) in the headlamp aimer (01), corresponding to the colored representation. The colored area of the light-dark boundary (1) of the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16) must be above the reference line for the lateral adjustment (4), corresponding to the colored representation. When the diagnostic light pattern is switched on and the lateral adjustment is correct, the vertical light-dark boundary (1) of the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16) each starting at the center mark (3) must run upward at 900 to the reference line for the height adjustment (2) in the headlamp aimer (01). The colored area of the vertical light-dark boundary (1) of the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16) must be to the left of the center mark (3). If the lateral adjustment of the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16) is not correct with the diagnostics light pattern already switched on: ↓ Subject to a separate repair order, check and correct the installation position of the headlamp concerned. Then perform operation steps 2 to 7 again. Gap dimension Bumper to headlamp If the height adjustment of the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16) was correct and the lateral adjustment of the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16) is not correct: ↓ Perform zero position adjustment using diagnostic system in suspension control unit.	*BE60.00-P-1014-01DA
		↓ Prepare alignment of headlamp aimer (01).	AD00.00-P-2000-04B
		↓ Switch on rectangular diagnostic light pattern using diagnostic system.	AP82.10-P-8260-09HA
		↓ Check the height adjustment of the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16) again with the diagnostic light pattern switched on; if necessary, correct by turning the adjustment screw for the height adjustment (H). ↓ Check the lateral adjustment of the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16). ↓ If the lateral adjustment of the left low beam headlamp (long range) (E1e16) is not correct with the diagnostics light pattern already switched on: ↓ Subject to a separate repair order, check and correct the installation position of the headlamp concerned.
