Front Fog Light Actuation, Function - GF82.10-P-3070LF
Model 217
Model 222 except code 460 (Canada version) except code 494 (US version)
Function requirements, general
- No overvoltage or undervoltage
- Terminal 15 ON
- Low beam ON
The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) sends the status of circuit 15 via interior CAN (CAN B) to the front SAM control unit (N10/6).
Low beams actuation is active during fog light actuation.
Front fog light actuation, general
Front fog light actuation enables the rear of the vehicle to be identified in poor weather conditions.
Rear fog light actuation function sequence
The rear fog light actuation is requested by pressing the rear fog light button (S1s10) on the exterior lights switch (S1).
The front SAM control unit reads in the status of the rear fog light button directly and sends the request to switch on the rear fog light via interior CAN to the rear SAM control unit (N10/8) and on vehicles with CODE 550 (Trailer hitch) to the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1).
In model 222, the rear SAM control unit actuates the center rear fog light (E7). In model 217, the rear SAM control unit actuates the left rear fog light (E3/1e5) in the inner left rear lamp unit (E3/1) with left-hand drive vehicles, and with right-hand drive vehicles it actuates the right rear fog light (E4/1e5) in the inner right rear lamp unit (E4/1).
Model 217 up to model year 2018 except code 460 (Canada version) except code 494 (US version)
The inner left brake light (E3/1e9) and the inner right brake light (E4/1e9) are not actuated if the rear fog light actuation is active. The trailer recognition control unit (with code (550) Trailer hitch) actuates the corresponding rear fog light on the trailer via the trailer socket (X58).
The rear fog light on the vehicle is not actuated during trailer operation. For this purpose, the trailer recognition control unit sends a corresponding signal with the information "Operational rear fog lamp exists on trailer" via interior CAN to the rear SAM control unit.
The active rear fog light actuation is indicated visually to the driver. The front SAM control unit sends the "Rear fog light indicator lamp ON" request via the interior CAN, electronic ignition lock control unit and user interface CAN (CAN HMI) to the instrument cluster (A1), which then actuates the rear fog light warning indicator.
