Drain/Pour In Coolant - AR20.00-P-1142SB

WARNING Risk of injury  . Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the overpressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

  Drain off     
1 Slowly open cap (3) from expansion reservoir and release overpressure.    
2 Remove front and center bottom engine compartment linings.   AR61.20-P-1105S
3 Slide drain hose onto fitting (1).    
4 Open drain valve (2) and collect coolant in suitable container. NOTES
Only open drain valve (2) to extent that coolant can drain out.
Drain valve (2) and engine cooling system cooler will otherwise be damaged.
 
5 Close drain valve (2).    
6 Remove drain hose.    
  Pour in     
7 Connect vehicle diagnostic system and switch on ignition.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06FR
8 Start fill mode of engine cooling system.    
9 Pour in coolant and bleed engine cooling system. NOTES
Do not fill engine cooling system without
activating fill mode.
Proper distribution of the coolant is otherwise not
ensured.

    HAND-HELD TESTER Test pressure for pressure-testing the engine cooling system *BE20.30-P-1005-01A

    SPECIAL TOOL Pressure pump Fig 3
    SPECIAL TOOL Test cap Fig 2
    SPECIAL TOOL NTKL Adaption Fig 1
10 End fill mode of engine cooling system.    
11 Start bleeding routine of engine cooling system. IMPORTANT This involves actuating the coolant pumps to remove residual air from the engine cooling system.
If the bleeding routine was not completed successfully:
↓
Repeat bleeding routine of engine cooling system.
 
12 Switch off ignition and disconnect diagnostic system.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06FR
13 Check coolant level, correct if necessary. FLUID SPECIFICATION Cooling system *BF20.00-P-1001-02MA 
14 Install front and center bottom engine compartment linings.   AR61.20-P-1105S
15 Attach cap (3) to the expansion reservoir.
