Outer B-Pillar Panel Removal - Ar63.20-P-1222-01S

REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 03 39 00 Rivet die   WS60.00-P-0386K

Model 223.0/1/9 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on model 223.1 on the left side of the vehicle and must be similarly performed on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Mark separating points on B-pillar paneling (1) and separate (areas AB, C).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    a = approx. 90 mm

    b = approx. 115 mm

    c1 = approx. 25 mm

    c2 = approx. 235 mm

    c3 = approx. 15 mm

  2. Remove screws from B-pillar paneling (1) (area D).
  3. Press out self-piercing rivets in B-pillar paneling (1) with rivet press tool (areas E).

  4. Bend up folded-over areas on the inside of B-pillar paneling (1) (areas F).
  5. Heat B-pillar paneling (1) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  6. Remove B-pillar paneling (1).
  7. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas (areas G, H).

    IMPORTANT Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on both sides (areas G).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas H).

  8. Remove grinding dust.
