Upper Front Longitudinal Member Separation - Ar62.20-P-1286-01S

REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 03 39 00 Rivet die   WS60.00-P-0386K

Model 223.0/1/9 

except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version) 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on model 223.1 on the left side of the vehicle and must be similarly performed on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Expose self-piercing rivets on upper front longitudinal member (1) and on lower front longitudinal member (2) and drill out with Ø 6 mm (areas A).

  2. Press out self-piercing rivets on upper rear longitudinal member (3) with rivet press tool (area B).
  3. Expose self-piercing rivets on lower front longitudinal member (2) and on upper rear longitudinal member (3) and drill out with Ø 6 mm (areas C).
  4. Expose screws (4) on the upper front longitudinal member (1) and remove.

  5. Heat upper front longitudinal member (1) and lower front longitudinal member (2) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  6. Heat upper front longitudinal member (1), lower front longitudinal member (2) and upper rear longitudinal member (3) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  7. Remove upper front longitudinal member (1), lower front longitudinal member (2) and upper rear longitudinal member (3).

  8. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  9. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

    Grind mating surface between the two metal sheets down to bare metal (area D).

  10. Remove grinding dust.
