Remove/Install Rear Bumper - AR88.20-P-2200S

Model 223.0/1/9

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m).    
2 Raise vehicle.   AR00.60-P-1006A
3 Remove expansion rivets (2) from left and right fender liner (3). SPECIAL TOOL Dismantling tool Fig 1
4 Press fender liner (3) to the side and unscrew left and right screws (4) on rear bumper (1).    
5.1 Unscrew left and right screws (5.2) on rear bumper (1). Model 223.0/1/9 with engine 176, 256 Model 223.1/9 with engine 279  
5.2 Remove rear underfloor paneling. Model 223.0/1 with engine 656  
      AR61.30-P-1001S
6 Unscrew left and right screws (5.1) on rear bumper (1).    
7 Remove rear-end center-section trim.   AR68.30-P-4786S
8 Remove nuts (6). IMPORTANT Use a tubular socket wrench (size 10 mm, overall length 160 mm).  
9 Unclip left and right rear bumper (1) from the holders (8, 9) in the top area (arrows). NOTES Carefully unclip rear bumper (1).
Rear lamps or rear fenders may otherwise be damaged.
 
10 Remove rear bumper (1) until the electrical connectors (7) are accessible. IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.  
11 Disconnect electrical connectors (7). IMPORTANT The number of electrical connectors (7) can vary depending on the equipment installed.  
12 Remove rear bumper (1).    
13 Install in the reverse order.
