Remove/Install Wiper Arm - AR82.30-P-6100S

DANGER Risk of fire and explosion  caused by ignition of window washing fluid or antifreeze and their vapors. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing window washing fluid or antifreeze or inhaling their vapors. Risk of injury  or physical irritations caused by contact of window washing fluid or antifreeze with eyes, mucous membranes or skin. Wear protective clothing and tight-fitting safety glasses. No open flames, fire or ignition sources. Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes and skin. When working with window washing fluids or antifreeze, do not eat, drink, or smoke. Do not inhale vapors and ensure sufficient ventilation in the working area. Store window AS82.35-Z-0001-01A 
    washing fluid and antifreeze leakfree in safely closed original containers and out of the reach of children.  
WARNING Injury hazard from pinching and crushing, in extreme cases extremities can even be cut off when caught in windshield wiper mechanism. When working on the windshield wiper mechanism, always switch off the ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (at least 2 m). AS82.30-Z-0001-01A

REMOVING Remove     
1 Move windshield wiper system to park position.    
2 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).    
3 Open hood.    
4 Remove covers (1).    
5 Release and disconnect electrical connection (9).    
6 Disconnect hose coupling (8, 10).    
7 Detach covers (4, 5) and remove nuts located underneath. TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, wiper arm to windshield wiper system *BA82.30-P-1002-01P 
8 Unclip hoses (2, 3) and electrical wiring harnesses of heated wiper arms (6, 7) from respective mounting clamps and route through opening in air/water duct. Model 223
with code 874 (MAGIC VISION CONTROL incl. heated windshield washer system)
 
9 Take off wiper arms (6, 7) or remove using puller. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Position wiper arms (6, 7) using markings on windshield.

  Installation of wiper arm (6) on driver's side     
10 Connect diagnostic system.    
REFER TO SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06FR
11 Switch on ignition.    
12 Set wiper motor to upper position using vehicle diagnosis system.    
REFER TO SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   IMPORTANT The upper position is intended only for installation of the wiper arm (6). AD00.00-P-2000-06FR
13 Mount wiper arm (6) on drive spigot and align parallel to A-pillar. HAND HELD TESTER Distance of driver-side wiper arm in the upper position to A-pillar *BE82.30-P-1005-01M 
14 Attach nut (4) of wiper arm (6). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, wiper arm to windshield wiper system *BA82.30-P-1002-01P 
15 Move wiper arm (6) to parked position using diagnostic system and then move back to upper position.

16 Raise wiper arm (6) and lower it again. NOTES Raise wiper arm (6) before measurement and lower it again.
Measurement errors occur otherwise.
 
17 Check distance of wiper arm (6) to A-pillar. HAND HELD TESTER Distance of driver-side wiper arm in the upper position to A-pillar *BE82.30-P-1005-01M 
    If the measurement value is outside the tolerance range, replace wiper arm (6) and start again at operation step 13.  
18 Move wiper arm (6) to parked position using diagnostic system.

  Installation of wiper arm (7) on front passenger side     
19 Mount wiper arm (7) on drive spigot and align with marking on windshield. IMPORTANT The wiper arm (7) can be aligned slightly below or above the marking on the windshield.  
20 Attach nut (4) of wiper arm (7). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, wiper arm to windshield wiper system *BA82.30-P-1002-01P 
INSTALLING Install     
21 Switch on ignition.    
22.1 Perform trial run of wiper arms (6, 7) using diagnostic system. If both wiper arms (6, 7) or only wiper arm (6) were/was removed.

22.2 Perform trial run of wiper arms (6, 7) without diagnostic system. If wiper arm (7) on front passenger side was removed.  
23 Disconnect vehicle diagnosis system from vehicle. If both wiper arms (6, 7) or only wiper arm (6) were/was removed.

24 Guide hoses (2, 3) and electrical wiring harnesses of wiper arms (6, 7) through opening in air/water duct and clip into respective mounting clamps. Model 223
with code 874 (MAGIC VISION CONTROL incl. heated windshield washer system)
 
25 Connect hose coupling (8, 10).    
26 Connect electrical connector (9).    
27 Attach covers (4, 5).    
28 Attach covers (1).    
INSPECT Check     
29 Perform function check on windshield wiper system.
