Location 

The tire pressure monitor (TPM) control unit (N88/1) is on the underfloor above the rear axle.

Tasks 

The tire pressure monitor (TPM) control unit (N88/1) has the following tasks:

• Reading in of signals 
• Evaluation of input factors 
• Sending of information 

Reading in of signals 

The input factors are read in over the following connections:

• Two-way radio 
• Chassis CAN (CAN E) 

Two-way radio 

The signals from the following sensors are read in via radio:

• Left front tire pressure sensor (A69/1)
• Right front tire pressure sensor (A69/2)
• Right rear tire pressure sensor (A69/3)
• Left rear tire pressure sensor (A69/4)

Chassis CAN (CAN E) 

The following signals are received via the chassis CAN:

• Vehicle speed signal
• Outside temperature
• Kilometer reading

Evaluation of input factors 

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor whereupon the information is then sent.

Sending of information 

• MODEL 447.6/7

The tire pressure monitor (TPM) control unit (N88/1) sends information via the chassis CAN to the instrument cluster (IC) control unit; this information is displayed as messages or warning messages.

• Model 447.8 or model 448.8

The tire pressure monitor (TPM) control unit (N88/1) transmits information to the instrument cluster (IC) control unit via the chassis CAN, gateway for user interface CAN (N93/4) and user interface CAN (CAN HMI); this information is displayed as messages or warning messages.

Body 

The central antenna is integrated in the tire pressure monitor (TPM) control unit (N88/1).
