Function requirements, general

IMPORTANT Model 447.6/7

The electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS) (N73) sends the circuit status of circuit 15 via the chassis CAN (CAN E) to the instrument cluster (IC) control unit (A1/1).

IMPORTANT Model 447.8

The electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS) sends the circuit status of circuit 15 via the chassis CAN, central gateway (N93/4), and user interface CAN (CAN HMI) to the instrument cluster (IC) control unit.

Active Service System PLUS (ASSYST PLUS), general

ASSYST PLUS calculates when the vehicle is due for a service. This is done either after a precisely defined kilometer reading or after a certain time interval, depending on which limit is reached first. In addition, it allows the driver or the service personnel an overview of the expected service operations at the vehicle.

The calculation is performed in ASSYST PLUS, which is integrated as a software solution in the instrument cluster (IC) control unit. The ASSYST PLUS takes into account the time and distance-dependent additional operations in accordance with the vehicle equipment. The scope and time of the due service are displayed in the multifunction display (A1/1p13) of the instrument cluster (IC) control unit.

ASSYST PLUS comprises the following subfunctions:

Function sequence for determining the remaining distance

The remaining distance is calculated from the difference of the defined kilometer reading and the distance already traveled. The distance traveled is defined via the wheel speed.

The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) control unit sends information on the wheel speed to the instrument cluster control unit.

The remaining distance to the next service is determined by means of the comparison to the travel distance reading that was reset and stored at the last service. The remaining distance is the primary decisive factor for the service indicator if the remaining distance is reached before the remaining time.

IMPORTANT The service interval based on the remaining distance is permanently stored in ASSYST PLUS (market specific; can be called up via the vehicle data card) and amounts to 40, 000 km for European countries, for example.

Function sequence for determining the remaining time

The remaining time is determined in the ASSYST PLUS.

The remaining time to the next service is calculated by comparing the time of the service reading as reset and stored during the last service. The remaining time is the primary decisive factor for the service indicator if the remaining time is reached before the remaining distance.

IMPORTANT The service interval based on the remaining time is permanently stored in ASSYST PLUS and it is 12 months for "Service A" and 24 months for "Service B".

Function sequence for evaluating data

Apart from the evaluation factors that are dependent on real driving conditions, ASSYST PLUS also takes into consideration quality factors when determining the service scope and intervals:

For this purpose, the CDI control unit sends the information to the instrument cluster (IC) control unit.

Function sequence for service indicator

The following notes with service code can be shown on the multifunction display of the instrument cluster (IC) control unit:

In the event that the service due date was exceeded, one of the following messages is shown:

IMPORTANT The display of the service date is shown accurately in 100 km or 100 miles or to the specific day. The 2-digit service code provides information on the scope of the service operations to be carried out. The service scope is shown as a service code (e.g. "A1"). The letter denotes the service scope, and the following digit or letter provides the workshop with information about additional operations. This enables the workshop to already provide the customer with the most precise specifications possible on the time expenditure and expense of the due service when the appointment is made.

Function sequence for service interval reset (with CODE CL4 (Multifunction steering wheel with trip computer))

The following parameters are required to reset the service interval:

Press the "OK" button (4) on the button group on the left-hand side of the multifunction steering wheel to reset the service.

The steering wheel electronics read in the status of the "OK" button (4) directly and send it via the steering LIN to the steering column tube module (MRM) control unit. The steering column tube module (MRM) control unit sends the status of the "OK" button (4) via the chassis CAN to the instrument cluster (IC) control unit.

The "Next service" message appears on the multifunction display of the instrument cluster (IC) control unit. If you press the "OK" button (4) for more than 3 s, the "Maintenance interval reset" message appears. The service interval is reset. Should an exchange of the instrument cluster (IC) control unit become necessary, the current service data must be entered manually.

Function sequence for service interval reset (without CODE CL4 (Multifunction steering wheel with trip computer))

The following parameters are required to reset the service interval:

The menu button (A1/1s2) of the instrument cluster (IC [KI]) control unit can be used to reset the service in the "Service" submenu.
