Standing/parking lights, general
The standing lights/parking lights actuation is used to mark the parked vehicle in poor visibility.
The standing/parking lights actuation is deactivated depending on the energy status at "Circuit 15R OFF".
The standing/parking lights actuation is comprised of the following partial functions:
- Standing lamp actuation function sequence
- Function sequence for lights on reminder warning
- Parking lights actuation function sequence
Standing lamp actuation function sequence
Vehicles without code LG2 (LED Intelligent Light System).
By turning the lighting switch (S1) (model 447.6/7, model 448.7) or lighting switch (S1/2) (model 447.8, model 448.8) to the standing lights position, the standing lights actuation is activated.
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1) directly reads in the status of the illumination switch and actuates the following lamps:
- Via the front left lamp unit (E1): the parking lights, standing lights, and daytime running lights on the left (E1e7)
- Via the front right lamp unit (E2): the parking lights, standing lights, and daytime running lights on the right (E2e7)
- Via the instrument cluster (IC) control unit (A1/1): the standing lights indicator lamp (A1/1e31)
At "Circuit 15R OFF" status the standing lights indicator lamp is deactivated after a specific period even if the function is active.
- Via the rear left lamp unit (E3): the tail lights, brake lights, and turn signal light on the left (E3e2)
- Via the rear right lamp unit (E4): the tail lights, brake lights, and turn signal light on the right (E4e2)
- The left license plate lamp (E19/1) and right license plate lamp (E19/2) (with code W64 (Separately opening rear window) or with code W65 (tailgate))
- The left rear-end door license plate lamp (E19/3) and right rear-end door license plate lamp (E19/4) (with code W50 (two-wing rear-end door, 180 degrees without window) or with code W54 (two-wing rear-end door, 270 degrees))

By turning the lighting switch (S1) (model 447.6/7, model 448.7) or lighting switch (S1/2) (model 447.8, model 448.8) to the standing lights position, the standing lights actuation is activated.
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit directly reads in the status of the illumination switch and actuates the following lamps and components:
- Via the interior CAN, electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS), and front end CAN (CAN G): the left headlamp control unit (E1/1n9).
- The left headlamp control unit forwards the "Standing lights" request on via the left headlamp LIN (LIN G1) to the actuation module for the front left LED exterior lighting (E1/1n7). This then directly actuates the parking lights, standing lights, and daytime running lights on the left (E1/1e7).
- Via the interior CAN, electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS), and front end CAN: the right headlamp control unit (E2/1n9).
- The right headlamp control unit forwards the "Standing lights" request on via the right headlamp LIN (LIN G2) to the actuation module for the front right LED exterior lighting (E2/1n7). This then directly actuates the parking lights, standing lights, and daytime running lights on the right (E2/1e7).
The left headlamp control unit and the left front actuation module, LED exterior lighting are mounted on the left front LED lamp unit (E1/1).
The right headlamp control unit and the right front actuation module, LED exterior lighting are mounted on the right front LED lamp unit (E2/1).
- Via the instrument cluster (IC) control unit: the standing lights indicator lamp.
At "Circuit 15R OFF" status the standing lights indicator lamp is deactivated after a specific period even if the function is active.
- Via the rear left LED lamp unit (E3/1): the left LED tail light (E3/1e2).
- Via the rear right LED lamp unit (E4/1): the right LED tail light (E4/1e2).
- The left license plate lamp and the right license plate lamp (with code W64 (Separately opening rear window) or with code W65 (tailgate)).

Vehicles with code Q22 (trailer coupling with non-removable ball head) or with code Q50 (trailer coupling with removable ball head).
Regardless of the lighting equipment, the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit also sends the "Standing lights" request via the interior CAN (CAN B) to the trailer recognition control unit (AAG) (N28/1). This actuates the following component parts of the exterior lighting on the trailer via the 13-pin trailer socket (X58):
- Taillights and parking lights
- License plate lights
If the interior CAN is in "bus idle", the standing lights actuation status is stored in the control units involved until a deactivation is requested by the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.

- Standing lamps "ON"
- Driver door "open"
- Circuit 15C OFF
Function sequence for lights on reminder warning
The logic for requesting the lights on reminder function is stored in the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit receives, via the interior CAN, the status of the left front door control unit (N69/3) and the circuit status of circuit 15 from the electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS). It uses this to generate the request to output the lights on reminder function.
It sends the "Acoustic warning" and "Instrument cluster message" request:
- Model 447.8, model 448.8
Via the interior CAN, central gateway (N93/4), and user interface CAN (CAN HMI): to the instrument cluster (IC) control unit
- MODEL 447.6/7, MODEL 448.7
Via interior CAN to the instrument cluster (IC) control unit
The instrument cluster (IC [KI]) control unit then actuates the instrument cluster speaker (H4/61) and the multifunction display (A1/1p13) directly. The message "Switch off lights" is shown in the multifunction display.
Additional function requirements for parking lights actuation
- Circuit 15C OFF
The electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS) sends the circuit status of circuit 15 via the interior CAN to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.

By turning the illumination switch to the left parking light position or the right parking light position, the parking lights actuation is activated for the corresponding side of vehicle.
Left parking light:
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit directly reads in the status of the illumination switch and actuates the following components and lamps:
- Via the left front lamp unit, the left parking light, standing light, and daytime running lights
- Via the left rear lamp unit, the left tailgait, brake, and parking turn signal lights
Right parking light:
- Via the front right lamp unit: the parking lights, standing lights, and daytime running lights on the right
- Via the right rear lamp unit, the right tailgait, brake, and parking turn signal lights

By turning the illumination switch to the left parking light position or the right parking light position, the parking lights actuation is activated for the corresponding side of vehicle.
Left parking light:
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit directly reads in the status of the illumination switch and actuates the following components and lamps:
- Via interior CAN, electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit, front end CAN to the left headlamp control unit.
- The left headlamp control unit forwards the request on via the left headlamp LIN to the actuation module for the front left LED exterior lighting. This then directly actuates the parking lights, standing lights, and daytime running lights on the left.
- Via the left rear LED lamp unit, the left LED taillight.
Right parking light:
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit directly reads in the status of the illumination switch and sends the request:
- Via interior CAN, electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit, front end CAN to the right headlamp control unit.
- The right headlamp control unit forwards the request on via the right headlamp LIN to the actuation module for the front right LED exterior lighting. This then directly actuates the parking lights, standing lights, and daytime running lights on the right.
- Via the right rear LED lamp unit, the right LED taillight.

Regardless of the lighting equipment, when activating the left or right parking lights actuation the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit also sends the "Parking lights" request via the interior CAN to the trailer recognition control unit (AAG). This then actuates the left or right tail light on the trailer via the 13-pin trailer socket.
