The radio is located behind the paneling of the instrument panel in the center console.

The radio (audio) provides the user with a structured and standard user interface for the following system components:
- Audio system (e.g. "radio", "SD card" and other multimedia devices)
- Telephony (with telephone book function)
- sound settings (e.g. "bass", "treble", "fader", "balance")
- System settings (e.g. "brightness" and "contrast")
- Navigation (with CODE E1N (Becker MAP PILOT) and CODE EN7 (Audio 15))
Reading in of input signals as well as actuation of output media and system components

CAN
The radio (audio) is a subscriber of the interior CAN (CAN B) and with CODE EV6 (Becker MAP PILOT preinstallation) or with CODE E1N (Becker MAP PILOT) is also a telematics CAN (CAN A) subscriber It communicates with the following components, for example:

Function
The status of the buttons is read in at the radio and made available to the integrated central computer. Button actuation is processed further in the central computer. A radio can be switched On and Off with the On/Off button. The volume is regulated by turning the volume setting button for each set audio source. The user can switch to the required system component by pressing the menu buttons.
Body
The following components are integrated in the radio (audio):
- Central computer
- Electrical fuse for radio (audio) (N87/2f1) in the combination connector at the rear panel
- Memory card reader via which audio data (also in MP3 format) can be played back
- Stowage compartment (with CODE EN6 (Audio 10))
- 3.5" display with 240 x 76 pixels (pixel matrix) (with CODE EN6 (Audio 10))
- 5.8" display with 400 x 240 pixels (color TFT) (with CODE EN7 (Audio 15)), is also used to display the image from the reversing camera (RFK) control unit in vehicles with CODE W65 (Liftgate) or rear-end door reversing camera (RFK) control unit in vehicles with CODE W50 (Double-wing rear-end door, 180 degrees without window) or CODE W54 (Double-wing rear-end doors, opening to sidewall)
- Theft protection (with CODE EN7 (Audio 15))
