Manual interior lights control in general
The manual interior lights control is used to switch the interior illumination (IBL), the reading illumination, the mirror lamps and the glove compartment illumination on and off.
The manual interior lights control function encompasses the following subfunctions:
- Function sequence for interior illumination IBL
- Function sequence for reading illumination
- Function sequence for mirror lamps
- Function sequence for glove compartment illumination
Function sequence for interior illumination IBL
The overhead control panel control unit (OCP) reads in the status of the dome lamp buttons directly, and sends it over the roof-LIN to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit. The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit sends the request to switch on the interior illumination (IBL) over the roof LIN to the overhead control panel (OCP) control unit, which then directly actuates the corresponding components.
The following interior illumination (IBL) components are manually dimmed when being switched on and off by operating the interior lamp button:
- Front interior lamp
- Dome lamp in left front grab handle (with CODE LC3 (Illumination in rear grab handle)) (model 447.7/8)
- Dome lamp in right front grab handle (with CODE LC3 (Illumination in rear grab handle)) (model 447.7/8)
- Left front reading lamp (model 447.8) (model 448.8)
- Left front reading lamp (with CODE LD0 (Overhead control panel with 2 reading spotlights)) (model 447.6/7)
- Right front reading lamp (model 447.8) (model 448.8)
- Right front reading lamp (with CODE LD0 (Overhead control panel with 2 reading spotlights)) (model 447.6/7)
- Right front footwell lamp (model 447.8)
- Right front footwell lamp (with CODE LC7 (Illumination for front footwell)) (model 447.6/7) (model 448.7/8)
- Left front footwell lamp (model 447.8)
- Left front footwell lamp (with CODE LC7 (Illumination for front footwell)) (model 447.6/7) (model 448.7/8)
- Left B-pillar footwell lamp (model 447.8) (model 448.8)
- Right B-pillar footwell lamp (model 447.8) (model 448.8)
- Left C-pillar footwell lamp (model 447.8) (model 448.8)
- Right C-pillar footwell lamp (model 447.8) (model 448.8)
- Center trunk lamp (model 447.8) (model 448.8)
- Left luggage compartment lamp
The following interior illumination (IBL) components are manually dimmed when being switched on and off by operating the rear compartment lamp button:
- Dome lamp, front of rear passenger compartment (model 447.7)
- Dome lamp in left rear grab handle (with CODE LC3 (Illumination in rear grab handle)) (model 447.7/8)
- Dome lamp in right rear grab handle (with CODE LC3 (Illumination in rear grab handle)) (model 447.7/8)
Function sequence for reading illumination
With CODE LD0 Overhead control panel with 2 reading spotlights or with CODE LC4 (Comfort overhead control panel).
The reading illumination serves to illuminate a defined area in front of the user, without having a distracting dazzling effect on the driver.
The overhead control panel control unit (OCP) reads in the status of the reading lamp buttons directly, and sends it over the roof-LIN to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.
Without CODE LD0 Overhead control panel with 2 reading spotlights) and without CODE LC4 (Comfort overhead control panel).
The reading illumination is provided by the front interior lamp.
The overhead control panel control unit (OCP) reads in the status of the reading lamp buttons directly, and sends it over the roof-LIN to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit sends the request to switch on the reading lamp over the roof LIN to the overhead control panel (OCP) control unit, which then directly actuates the corresponding components.
The following reading lamp components can be switched on or off manually by pressing the reading lamp buttons:
- With CODE LD0 (Overhead control panel with 2 reading spotlights) or with CODE LC4 (Comfort overhead control panel).
- Left front reading lamp through left front reading lamp button
- Right front reading lamp through right front reading lamp button
- Without CODE LD0 (Overhead control panel with 2 reading spotlights) and without CODE LC4 (Comfort overhead control panel).
- Front interior lamp via left front reading lamp button or right front reading lamp button
Each button integrated into the dome lamp can be used to switch the reading lamp in the dome lamp in the left rear grab handle and the reading lamp in the dome lamp in the right rear grab handle on and off.
Function sequence for mirror lamps
On model 447.6/7, model 448.7/8 (with CODE FS5 (Illuminated mirrors for sun visors)).
The sun visor illumination switches are powered by the overhead control panel control unit (OCP).
The following mirror lamp components can be manually switched on or off by opening or closing the corresponding mirror covers:
- Left front vanity mirror illumination through the left sun visor illumination switch
- Right front vanity mirror illumination through the right sun visor illumination switch
The power supply is switched off by folding the sun visor closed or by locking the vehicle.
To preserve the on-board electrical system battery (G1) the power supply is interrupted after t = 30 min after "circuit 15 OFF". The power supply for the left front vanity mirror illumination and the right front vanity mirror illumination is switched off when locking the vehicle through the central locking system (CL).
Additional function requirements for glove compartment illumination
- "Circuit_15R_ON"
The circuit 15 status is sent by the electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS) hover the interior CAN to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.
Function sequence for glove compartment illumination
The glove compartment switch illumination is powered by the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit. Voltage is switched through to the glove compartment lamp by opening the glove compartment door.
After switching off circuit 15C, the glove compartment lamp is switched off after t = 30 s.
