Backup Lamp Actuation, Function - GF82.10-S-3011TRA
Model 447.6/7/8
except code XM0 (Facelift)
Model 448.7/8
Function requirements, general
- No overvoltage or undervoltage (operating voltage range between 8 and 17.5 V)
- "Circuit 15 ON"
The electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS) (N73) sends the circuit 15 status over the interior CAN (CAN B) to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1).
Backup light actuation, general
The backup light actuation enables the traffic lane to the rear of the vehicle to be illuminated when backing up.
Function sequence for backup light actuation
When the reverse gear is engaged, the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit activates the backup light actuation.
- On vehicles with transmission 722.9, the fully integrated transmission (VGS) electric controller unit (N15/11) sends the "Reverse gear engaged" signal via drive train CAN (CAN C), CDI control unit (N3/33) (model 447 with engine 651.9), CDI control unit (N3/36) (model 447.6/7 with engine 622) or ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/34) (model 448 with engine 274), chassis CAN (CAN E), electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit and interior CAN to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.
- On vehicles with TRANSMISSION 700.7 or TRANSMISSION 711.6, the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit reads in the "Reverse gear engaged" signal from the backup lamp switch (S16/2) directly.
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit sends the backup lights actuation directly to the:
- The left rear lamp unit (E3), which then actuates the left backup light (E3e3) directly.
- The right rear lamp unit (E4), which then actuates the right backup light (E4e3) directly.
For vehicles with CODE LG4 (LED taillights, brake lights and turn signal lights):
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit sends the backup lights actuation directly to the:
- The left rear LED lamp unit (E3/1), which then actuates the left backup light (E3/1e3) directly.
- The right rear LED lamp unit (E4/1), which then actuates the right backup light (E4/1e3) directly.
Function sequence for additional backup light actuation for vehicles with CODE Q50 (Trailer hitch with removable ball head) or CODE Q22 (Trailer hitch with non-removable ball head)
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit sends the backup lights request via interior CAN to the trailer recognition (AAG) control unit (N28/1), which actuates the backup lights on the trailer via the 13-pin trailer socket (X58). The trailer recognition control unit sends the status via interior CAN to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.
The CDI control unit also sends the gear indicator actuation:
- On model 447.6/7, model 448.7 via chassis CAN to the instrument cluster (IC [KI]) control unit (A1/1).
- On model 447.8, model 448.8 via chassis CAN, electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit, interior CAN, gateway for user interface CAN (N93/4), user interface CAN (CAN HMI) to the instrument cluster (IC [KI]) control unit.
