The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

1. Install side wall paneling (1), rear side wall paneling bottom section (4), sliding door, liftgate or rear-end door, sealing frame and lock striker and fit.
2. Check gaps using feeler gauge and adjust.

   Gap dimension "FB"

   Gap dimension "GA"

   Gap dimension "HF"

   Gap dimensions "IA", "IF"

3. Fix side wall paneling (1) and rear side wall paneling bottom section (4) in place.
4. Remove sliding door, liftgate or rear-end door, sealing frame and lock striker.

5. Drill Ø 7.1 mm rivet holes in side wall paneling (1) at defined punch marks (area B).
6. Model 447.605/705 except code W65 (Liftgate) except code W68 (Electrically actuated liftgate)

   Drill Ø 7.1 mm rivet holes in side wall paneling (1) at defined punch marks (area A).

7. Drill Ø 6.5 mm rivet holes in side wall paneling (1) and rear side wall paneling bottom section (4) (area C and C₁ ).
8. Remove side wall paneling (1) and rear side wall paneling bottom section (4).
9. Deburr rivet holes on both sides.
10. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.

11. Apply sealant to body and lock striker reinforcement (2).
12. Apply 2-component adhesive to body (areas D and E).

    Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas D and E). Refer to the manufacturer's information for the curing and working times of 2-component adhesive.

13. Install side wall paneling (1) and rear side wall paneling bottom section (4) and fit.
14. Fix side wall paneling (1) and rear side wall paneling bottom section (4) in place.
15. Side wall paneling (1) and rear side wall paneling bottom section (4) (areas F, I up to K).
16. Drill side wall paneling (1) before inert gas welding (arrow).
17. Side wall paneling (1) (areas L and M).
18. Rivet side wall paneling (1) and rear side wall paneling bottom section (4) with Ø 6, 4x14 blind rivets (areas P and P₁ ).
19. Install blind rivet nuts M5 (areas N₁ and N₂ ).
20. Model 447.605/705 except code W65 (Liftgate) except code W68 (Electrically actuated liftgate)

    Install blind rivet nuts M5 (areas O₁ up to O₃ ).

21. Rear side wall paneling bottom section (4) (areas Q to T).
22. Rear side wall paneling bottom section (4) (area V).
23. Rear side wall paneling bottom section (4) (area U).

    Inert gas weld in intervals and allow to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.

24. Side wall paneling (1) (areas W and X).
25. Grind inert gas welds and inert gas spot welds down flat.
26. Clean weld joints.
27. Restore surfaces on side wall paneling (1) and rear side wall paneling bottom section (4) and smooth.
28. Remove shavings and drill chips.
