Safety information in superordinate service document must be observed.

  1. Install side wall paneling (1), rear side wall paneling bottom section (2), liftgate or rear-end door, seal and lock striker and fit.
  2. Check gaps using SPECIAL TOOL feeler gauge and adjust.

  3. Fix side wall paneling (1) and rear side wall paneling bottom part (2) in place.

  4. Remove liftgate or rear-end door, seal and lock striker.
  5. Drill Ø 7.1 mm rivet holes in side wall paneling (1) at defined punch marks (area B).

    Drill Ø 7.1 mm rivet holes in side wall paneling (1) at defined punch marks (area A).

  7. Drill Ø 6.5 mm rivet holes in side wall paneling (1) and rear side wall paneling bottom part (2) (area C).
  8. Remove side wall paneling (1) and rear side wall paneling bottom part (2).
  9. Deburr rivet holes on both sides.
  10. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.
  11. Apply sealant to body.

  12. Install side wall paneling (1) and rear side wall paneling bottom section (2) and fit.
  13. Fix side wall paneling (1) and rear side wall paneling bottom part (2) in place.
  14. Side wall paneling (1) and rear side wall paneling bottom section (2) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE (areas D to G).
  15. Sidewall paneling (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (Area H).

    IMPORTANT Inert gas weld in intervals and allow to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.

  16. Side wall paneling (1) SHIELDED GAS PLUG WELD (areas I and J).
  17. Rivet sidewall paneling (1) and rear sidewall paneling lower section (2) with Ø 6.4x14 blind rivet (area K).

  18. Bottom section of rear side wall paneling (2) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE (areas L to O).
  19. Bottom section of rear side wall paneling (2) SHIELDED GAS PLUG WELD (area Q).
  20. Bottom section of rear side wall paneling (2) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (area P).

  23. Install blind rivet nuts M5 (area X).
  24. MODEL 447.6/7 except CODE W65 (Liftgate) except CODE W68 (Electrically actuated liftgate)

    Install blind rivet nuts M5 (area W).

  25. Scribe separating points (areas Y and Z).
  26. Separate separating points (areas Y and Z).
  27. Remove sections from side wall paneling (1).

  28. Side wall paneling (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE (areas D and E).
  29. Grind shielding gas welds and shielding gas spot welds down flat.
  30. Clean weld joints.
  31. Restore surfaces on side wall paneling (1) and rear side wall paneling bottom part (2) and smooth.
  32. Remove shavings and drill chips.
