Repair Brake Caliper Guide - AR42.10-S-0400S

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove brake linings Model 636, 639 AR42.10-S-1600S
    Model 447, 448 AR42.10-S-1610E 
2 Remove anti-rattle springs (1) from brake caliper support (2)    
CLEAN Clean     
3 Clean brake parts and contact surfaces on brake caliper support (2) SPECIAL TOOL Brake caliper brush Fig 1
INSPECT Check     
4 Check brake parts for wear and damage, and replace as per findings    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Check lining thickness of brake pads and condition of brake disks Model 447, 448 AP42.10-S-4251E 
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Check lining thickness of brake pads and condition of brake disks Model 636, 639
If wear or damage present

Replace front axle brake disks
AP42.10-S-4251A
    Remove/install front axle brake disk
MODEL 636, 639
AR42.10-S-0230S
    Remove/install front axle brake disk
Model 447, 448
AR42.10-S-0230E 
REMOVING Remove     
5 Remove guide pins (3, 4) and remove bellows (5) IMPORTANT To do so, push guide pins (3, 4) in direction of arrow out of guide holes and then remove the bellows (5).  
CLEAN Clean     
6 Clean seat of guide pins (3, 4) in guide holes    
INSTALLING Install     
7 Install new boots (5) in the corresponding brake caliper grooves NOTES
Make sure that the boots (5) are seated correctly. This prevents malfunctions in the brake system.
 
8 Coat new guide pins (3, 4), guide holes and insides of boots (5) with the assembly grease included in the repair kit    
9 Install new guide pins (3, 4) NOTES
Make sure that the boots (5) are correctly seated in the grooves in the guide pins (3, 4).
This prevents malfunctions in the brake system.
IMPORTANT Install new guide pin (3) with guide ring in direction of arrow into upper guide hole and new guide pin (4) without guide ring in direction of arrow into lower guide bore.
 
10 Allow existing air to escape from the boots (5) IMPORTANT To do this, lift boots (5) slightly out of brake caliper groove at one point and press out air.  
11 Install anti-rattle springs (1) into brake caliper support (2) IMPORTANT Replace anti-rattle springs (1).  
12 Install brake lining Model 636, 639 AR42.10-S-1600S
    Model 447, 448 AR42.10-S-1610E 
INSPECT Check     
13 Check fluid level in brake fluid reservoir and correct according to findings    
NOTES Brake fluid notes   AH42.50-P-0001-01A 
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Brake fluids (DOT 4 plus)   BB00.40-P-0331-00A
14 Build up brake pressure IMPORTANT To do this, operate brake pedal several times.  
15 Check brake system for leaks IMPORTANT Visual inspection only.
