Remove/Install Outside Trim On Liftgate - AR72.20-S-1016E

Model 447, 448 

With Code W64 (Separately opening rear window)

WARNING Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Open pop-out window (2).    
2 Remove screw (3).    
3 Remove covers from nuts (4) and unscrew nuts (4).    
4 Close pop-out window (2).    
5 Insert long wedge (5) as shown between the outer trim (1) and the pop-out window (2) and unclip left and right retaining clip (7) from the retaining clip mounts (8). IMPORTANTSPECIAL TOOL Insert long wedge (5) at a distance of approx. 5 cm from the outsides of the center high-mounted brake lamp of the rear window (E21/3) to be opened separately.

6 Disconnect electrical connector (11) from the center high-mounted brake lamp of the rear window to be opened separately (E21/3).    
7 Remove electrical wiring harness (12) from the outer trim (1). IMPORTANT Observe assembly position of electrical wiring harness (12).  
8 Remove windshield washer hose (10) from the rear window spray nozzle (9). IMPORTANT Observe installation position of windshield washer hose (10).  
9 Remove wiring harness (6) from the outer trim (1) and remove outer trim (1). IMPORTANT Observe installation position of wiring harness (6).  
10 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Check     
11 Perform function test on additional brake lamp (1).    
DANGER Risk of fire and explosion  caused by ignition of window washing fluid or antifreeze and their vapors. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing window washing fluid or antifreeze or inhaling their vapors. Risk of injury  or physical irritations caused by contact of window washing fluid or antifreeze with eyes, mucous membranes or skin. Wear protective clothing and tight-fitting safety glasses. No open flames, fire or ignition sources. Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes and skin. When working with window washing fluids or antifreeze, do not eat, drink, or smoke. Do not inhale vapors and ensure sufficient ventilation in the working area. Store window washing fluid and antifreeze leakfree in safely closed original containers and out of the reach of children. WARNING Injury hazard from pinching and crushing, in extreme cases extremities can even be cut off when caught in windshield wiper mechanism. When working on the windshield wiper mechanism, always switch off the ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (at least 2 m). AS82.30-Z-0001-01A
12 Perform leak test on rear window spray nozzle (6). If leaks occur,

make sure sealing ring and retainer (5) are correctly seated.
 
13 Check spray nozzle adjustment for rear window windshield washer system.
